How does the card scale with a frame limiter? Do you see a considerable power usage drop or is it crap like on the 7000 series?
Will look at later but I do see major temperature/clock reduction under 100% loads / when capped to 144hz.

So as I already own a 3080_12GB, the only cards faster than what I have, and that dont consume more power (I like in the Uk) are the 7900XT or 4070ti.
That said the 4080's are dropping in price so as it has lower power draw then the 7900XTX and have DLSS3 frame gen I will prolly get that card. That said in the 7900XTX gets a big price cut then I can live with the extra power draw.

Probably a Radeon card if I had to pick because I can get one brand new with a warranty. I'm avoiding these used 3090's because they have dual-sided VRAM and the modules on the top-side modules run hot AF. My son has a 3090 and he expects that card to kick the can at some point. He paid for the EVGA extended warranty at least but he's not sure what EVGA will do when the card dies.

He says there's been a few times that he's had to kick the fan speeds up to 100% in order to keep the VRAM cool enough to run games.

I’d like to compare them all on the Flight sim against the RTX3090 and RTX4090 which is getting 130 FPS @5120x1440. Makes for some smooth landings.

6800xt in DK is in the range of 800$ too 1000$ sadly, and prize is rising with the choices ie 3080 is 1050$ too 2200$ it is nuts... funnily the 7900xt goes from 1064$ and upward.
I have no clue whats going on with the prizes

  • They have stated publicly they will honour the warranties on 3xxx series cards.
  • Which EVGA card exactly does he have? get him to check there are thermal pads between the backplate and the ram. And if he has to add said thermal pads, make sure there its to the metal surface of the backplate as some have plastic rto protect from electrical shorting.

No one i spoke to seems to know. It's like they(AMD and Nvidia) don't want to sell them and they are fine with keeping them on the shelves.
