'Was looking for a Radeon Instinct MI8 (R9 Nano) to compare to MI25 (WX 9100) and add to my slowly-growing HBM GPU collection.
I can recall this video (and others) mentioning how low-priced the MI8 was.
However, the few I've found on fleabay, have been near or over $300!
I put in a ~$60 offer on one with an explanation that I wanted to compare performance to my $40-50+ MI25s.
Surprisingly, that lowball wasn't auto-declined. However, later I received a $200 counteroffer, and a single-word message of "Nope".
I actually thought that was pretty funny; I tried to be inoffensive in my 'lowball', asking if they could 'get closer' to MI25 prices.
MI25s (16GB Vega 10) are $40-50+ea., and superior in performance by a good margin
(while requiring just as much modding to make into a Desktop 3D Accelerator.)
What's even more strange,
is that the AMD FirePro S9300 X2 (Radeon R9 FURY X2 / Radeon Pro Duo) is still available for ~$100 shipped.
I'm genuinely curious why this once "DIYers' Budget Special" is now so VERY inflated?
Is it strictly because R9 Nanos are unobtanium and quasi-collectables?
'Still seems absolutely nutty that a Crossfire-on-a-stick version of the same Server-Workstation GPGPU is about a third the price.
