hey its steam deck verified. i think I will give these a go. is it ok to just play one and not the other, or is it a continuous story?

What?
Shows "Unsupported". It's one of the few Steam titles I own.

Trials Of Mana might be though...
Yup, it is.

The following will be one of my next purchases on Steam.
I might get the Switch version instead though.

Now you can post in the "Which games you've bought multiple times?" topic !

Actually, this is the fourth time I've purchased this pair of games. The other times were gifts.

what I am asking is, is it like Final Fantasy games, in that each game can be played on its own, or do you need to play them in chronologically released order?

and secret of mana does work on steam deck it has a gold rating, you just have to change the proton number before launch, which is easy to do on Deck games.

No, Secret Of Mana and Trials of Mana are not direct sequels. They take place in the same general universe, but are only loosely related as far as story lines go. Play them in the order that you see fit.

EDIT: Fair warning: The 3D remake of Secret Of Mana is aimed at a younger audience unlike the original. I still enjoy it, but not everyone does. Trials however is a more faithful remaster.

That mouse pad is hilariously small

It's not the size of the clicker, it's how fast ya can flick 'er

It depends on the user. I got a 40x40cm wide mouse pad but the actual area of the pad that I use when gaming is like 18x14.

I have a 450x400mm pad myself (ROG Strix Edge Nordic limited edition) and it's perfect for me :)

I need to put a photo up now that my desk has been cleaned. He has more mousepad than I have desk without mousepad
I'm using four mousepads, two mice, and a trackpad.
That's Pepsi in a Coke glass too, I like to hurt people inside.

As to why there's two chairs etc, because I've got 3PC's and a chromecast ultra running to this - and sometimes I split into two seperate people for better multitasking

No, that's not the info from AMD for all these 7000 SKU's. 95C is it for all of them regardless of wattage - that's the testing AMD did with this series for 24/7 operation.
They are challenging to cool because of extra thick IHS, that's there for compatibility with AM4 coolers.

I am really happy I went 7700 non-x this time really easy to cool in general, games and benchmarks with my Noctua NH-D15.chromax and I only uses the middle fan same on my 5800X3D.

I was thinking about getting a 7800X3D but I think I will wait for 8000 series to upgrade depending on when Asrock decides to release their Deskmeet for socket am5 they are waiting on some more AMD 7000 skus I was told in a email before they want to release it.

Depending on prices on the Deskmeet AM5 I will make it into a small footprint, high performance server.

Everyone i know with non-X CPU's or Eco mode on, is really really happy with their AM4/5 systems

AMD and intel are too busy fighting over cinebench scores, gamers don't need the extra cores or MT performance, while lower wattages and heat makes for a cheaper quieter system

True, i know prices are almost the same for the non-x and x variant for the 7700 in my country but looking at reviews and see what tuning and PBO can do if I need the X performance and slightly lower power usage for the same performance I choose to save the like £20/28USD the non-x was cheaper and got a cooler (I might never use but it's always handy) and lower power doing what I do.

I am absolutely loving my 7900X3D. In HWInfo64 I see a maximum power draw of 55 Watts. To me that is super impressive as the fact that there are 2 CCDs, an I/O Die and IGPU all in the same package supplying for that power draw.

Yeah there is a bit about if you should go 7800X3D with one CCD or 7900X3D with two CCDs because for gaming one CCD should be faster for gaming.

It's more that the 7800X3D has eight cores with extra cache, but the 7900X3D only has six.

I have seen instances were both Caches are used. I can't confirm this but it seems like TWWH3 uses the non cache die for turn times and the cache die is used when in Battles. Regardless I have seen the clock on my CPU as high as 5.6 GHZ in Games. As you should be aware the Cache CCD is locked at 5.1 GHZ. I for one have never agreed to the principle of turning off a CCD for the 7950X3D to get the best performance as that seems to be a bit of a red herring. It is not like these are the first 2 CCD parts that AMD has released and there is no way that an 8 core is faster than a 12 core. To me that is like saying the 5800X was faster than the 5900X and there is no way that is true, It really is too bad AMD did not sample this chip to reviewers. If I wasn't enjoying it so much I would send you guys mine to see for yourselves. F me I even finished KOA as a result of enjoying Gaming at 4K and next up will be Control.

It's true.

Bigger numbers (in this case core counts) aren't always better. In this case, the inter CCD latency is too high to show benefit in games from additional cores. Latency is king and you can't beat physics. 7950X3D would do better than a 7900X3D BTW.

I wouldn't be surprised if 5800X was indeed faster in many games than the 5900X, as to games, one CCD latency is better than two six core CCDs.

It's just the downside of non monolithic chips, and the trade off you make with dual CCD parts, not something new, and not something I anticipate will change.

I don't play at 720P. I play at 4K. I had a 5800X3D so I know where i am coming from but I also had a 5900X as well. The 7900X3D pushes up to 3 more GBs per second to feed the VRAM in every Game I play. Windows and AMD have had almost 4 years of refining Dual CCD chips. To me it would be hubris to say that they have not achieved any improvements in that time. Of course the caveat to what I am saying is in my first words. I play at 4K. The only thing I change in settings is to turn Vsync off but my system is so fast that it can support butter smooth 4K 144Hz without any tearing.

Where I love my chip is in RTS and ARPGs though there is no FPS that it can't handle. In fact would you not be impressed. If you zoom in you will see 200 FPS in CP2077 at 4K. I had to save the image to 1440P to upload to TPU. My 5800X3D could not do that.

The resolution you play at is irrelevant, the 720p test shows CPU limitations when the system isn't GPU bottlenecked, as it is at higher resolutions, since the test is of the CPU, not the GPU but let's not get into that. Speed goes like this from slowest to fastest - 7900X3D, 7950X3D, 7800X3D, 7950X3D (one CCD disabled) 13900KS is somewhere in that pack.

You can see the exact same ranking even at 4K, where the limiting factor is the GPU, even with a 4090.

If you looked at minimum FPS/1% lows the differences would be more obvious, even at 4K.

The 7950X3D still loses even with it's frequency advantage, even at 4K GPU limited, because of inter CCD latency, and the scheduler still not being anywhere near perfect enough to offset that.

Found Conductonaut Extreme in stock finally, UK store, excited to be one of the first to try it out, apparently between 18-30% better than OG Conductonaut, which is already the best. I'll be sure to post before/after results with a stress test on the GPU, with some naked die shots too (marked NSFW of course). For now will just apply to the IHS of my CPU rather than both IHS and between die and IHS. OverclockersUK has it in stock, there was a listing on Amazon but I'm somewhat wary of third party sellers on that platform.

Ordered a Delid Die Mate 2, but couldn't find the AMD adapter in stock anywhere, so I cancelled that. Delidded 5800X3D will have to wait I suppose :p

Conductonaut Extreme and the Protective shield have arrived, but I'm still waiting for the pads to arrive from the USA... so far they haven't even left Illinois o_O. I keep glancing over at the parcel in the corner with anticipation lol. Easy to forget how bad the US postal service can be .

That chart looks nice. I am not talking about relative performance here. You guys like to use TWWH3 as one of your Games but you do that by running the battle benchmark in the Game. The thing is that small battle is not indicative of how much that Game pushes your CPU if there are 40 units per side in that battle with 2 full stack reinforcements that come in as units are killed or routed to maintain that 40 unit number for up to 45 minutes. Try that in 4K and you will see just how much your relative performance matters.

Yes, yes 1% lows but isn't that what my X3D is for? Do you remember the lament about the 5800X3D? Well the 7900X3D answers that. I can only tell you that I use VRAM usage as a benchmark to see how fast my CPU is. For me that is the best way to gauge chip usage, how much VRAM is loaded onto your GPU at all times.

You can say a 4090 all you want but for me once you have at least 16GB of VRAM you are good and it is obvious that my 7900XT laughs at 4K. I do not in anyway feel limited with performance like this at 4K. Now I am looking at getting a 7600 as well just to see what that chip can do vs a 5600X.

My latest purchase was actually a USB external enclosure, price was good too.

Windows 11 and NVME can be weird but I was able to recover a 512GB NVME that had dropped in the rain. Even had the movie I had copied to it playing through Windows player.

Decided to sort out my home network. Budget is they key factor here. Wish there were wall mounts and a few more gigabit ports, but it is what it is. Can't wait to set it up :))

go for it! (or both ... Miasma seems interesting too ... it looks like Troubleshooter which is also a T-SRPG )

aye!

here goes:

all the good it can be[an] organic, low power requirement and DELICIOUS! can fix anything in a jiffy! errr.... in a chilli i mean ...

well ... i like the AKG sound signature, they are not bad as i thought in term of wearing ... they add some options to my S23 and they were in promo (35chf instead of the actual 65chf price, iirc at launch they were 149chf) can be a good alternative when i don't want, awesome sounding, borderline perfection, 80hrs+ autonomy, cans, that the Edifier Stax Spirit S3 are, on my head, plus they are quite discreet.

i want 165 fps at 1440p high (not max) settings in cyberpunk 2077. my guess is a 4080 + 5800x3d will take me where I want to go. but prob need a 4090 if i want ray tracing set to ultra, but i hear even a 4090 crumbles under the new psycho ray tracing mode in that game, so i don't know, maybe i will just say fuck ray tracing and leave it off and turn settings from high to max with ray tracing off.

but yeah i start this new part time job next week, just talked with my dad about it. im not buying the card until i earn the money from this job though, not dipping into my savings for nvidia, fuck nvidia, but they still getting my money in two weeks or three since amd don't got their shit together. 6 months and still haven't fixed the idle power draw, is utter bs.
So you can experience all the bugs super smooth ?

Only now seeing this. When I got mine, installing CFW was easy-peasy. I got lucky though, that the FW version it was running allowed so.

Looking right now, it's been a while since I last bought some tech. Hands' itching, but I only have plans to get my missus a MBA M1 later in the year.
