Keyboard use tends to be clunky, but overall cheaper. A wheel provides smoother motions.

A good gamepad with thumbsticks or even a flight stick can be smoother than a keyboard and also cheaper than a wheel.

I tend to keep an Xbox controller on hand for any racing games. I may need it for. Even in games like Grandtheft auto ,where there is driving they come in handy. Kb & mouse can be problematic

Have a legacy model of the link below that has this same layout but doesnt have analong triggers or the colored buttons. It is well built and responsive, uses the wingman software for macros.

18 WoS was fine with keyboard but I'm old school and do well with keyboard in most racing games. Euro Truck Simulator 2 (made by SCS Software as well), however, is terrible with keyboard. I use an Xbox 360 controller for that one and wheel would be even better.

Hate mouse steering in all the games.

I tried 18 Wheels of Steel with wheel and it's awesome like American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator 2 with wheel. Euro Truck Simulator 1 it's boring for me because no many mods.
