Why don't you ask simply Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB vs Gigabyte Windforce SFF GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB ?
I let the Pros answering ... and you, you lean towards wich one ?

The build isn't for myself but the Nvidia card would probably give the buyer more E-clout.

Nvidia, but different vendor for the GPU, avoid Gigabyte and server grade gel BS.

If you can't find a 5070ti for cheap enough then get the first build i.e. sapphire 9070xt

Why not MSRP 9070xt (599$)? Check your microcenter. 799$ is overprice for pulse
Microcenters are located in less than half of the US states. The guy looking for a build lives in Idaho.

This news blows. That Gigabyte card is the cheapest 5070 Ti available atm. =/

Here is thread about the 50 series gigabyte problem with gel.
I would personally stay away from gigabyte for now with graphics cards.
(I own 9070 xt oc from gigabyte, for now is ok, but igorslab was not impressed with quality of thermal gel on it, and I can't give it back I need to wait for failure or just repaste it myself.)

The Sapphire 9070XT is a fine replacement in that case although see if you can find one for cheaper, the MSRP was $600.

I'd avoid gigabyte for now, at least till they make a statement on their shitty thermal puddy/grease which was a stupid decision.

Unless the person is technically capable enough to swap the pads or is willing to deal with the slow as molasses gigabyte support. Took them almost 6 months to send me a new motherboard after a ton of back and fourth.

Normally at that price difference 5070ti 100% at 100 usd I'd still lean that way but it's a toss up at that point

I'd look at it this way if the 9070XT build was 1731 and the 5070ti build is 100 usd more that's less than 6% more for the superior card.

It's down to this Zotac card (I know nothing of that brand) or the Sapphire card. The rest of the 5070 Ti's are spendy. It's starting to look like a AMD gpu.

Zotac card would be fine but I've not ever noticed it in stock.

At least at 834.

As a brand they are the same to me as any other people have both excellent and shitty experiences with their CS but honestly that's all gpu makers except for AMD/Nvidia direct which tend to be better.

If I was going amd I'd honestly spend the 50 more and get the Nitro that's just me though. Looking over the whole build it seems they are trying to cut as much cost as possible so if that's the case you definitely could do worse than a 9070XT.

Now Newegg is showing that Zotac card out of stock. I'm trying to keep this build as cheap as possible without giving the guy any crappy parts.

Decent brand afaik, kinda expensive but that's PC hardware in general.

Very difficult in 2025 for sure with gpu prices above the low end.

Both gpu's are super solid with the strength of the 5070ti being well documented but if the person needs it to cost the min possible the 9070XT is solid, I just sincerely hope amd continues to support it and pushes FSR4 into significantly more games.

I linked him to this thread and he's leaning towards that AMD card. He doesn't do anything with his PC other than game and surf the net so he should be fine.

He can build something a lot cheaper going for a 14600k, it currently sits at 164$!!!

You can currently get a 9070 for $599. I'd have a hard time justifying a 9070XT for over $800 when the difference is ~9% at 1440p. You can OC the 9070 and get there. Sure, you can also OC the XT, but we're looking at over $200 difference? (also, the ASUS Prime XT is $720...at this point, I'd go for whatever non-gigabyte card was the cheapest lol).

Try to get a 5080 (not a typo) via Nvidia's Priority Access Program?

And get a cheaper CPU, 14600k.

Get the GPU first, rest of the parts can be bought later.

If nothing works out then the 9070 (non XT) suggested above is a fine card.
