ABIT AA8-DuraMAX Socket T
ABIT IL8 Socket T (LGA 775) (If I want to save money)

with this processor:
Intel Pentium 4 630 Prescott 800MHz FSB LGA 775 EM64T Processor

which one is the best one?

I am not going to do much overclocking

I don't know which one is the best, but my brother has the AA8 Duramax. It's a really great board.

cool, but I'll prolly go with intel for stability reasons. I still wanna know what yall think about it before I buy though. thanks for the input.

The "made by intel" boards aren't necessarily more stable than the boards from other manufacturers. If you are going to use an intel processor it is best to buy a board with an intel chipset. However, Abit, Asus, DFI, and MSI as well as a few others all make high quality and reliable boards. Often at a cheaper price with more features.

I know but asus is out of the question as I am having problems with this asus mobo I allready have. (amd socket a)

well you cant hold a grudge against a 7 year old mobo. ive seen a couple good solid mobos but anything with a chipset older then the 915p should be avoided. just find a abit/asus/gigabyte board with a chipset newer then a 915 and post it.

ok I want a 955 chipset based so it will work with the new cedar mill cores that's what intel told me to look for. Are they right on that one. I called them on the phone. I don't know how good the rep knowledge was. And some mobo companies post different chipsets compatible too. I know GEIL's RAM chart hasnt been updated since 04! That was a tad scary but I placed the RAM order anywaz hoping it will be good, I don't mind sending back a 100 dollar item like ram that is easy to replace, but a mobo! Hell no!

I also go to asus website forums and they have alot of really odd problems posted on there.

thanks! ;)

note that I am on a tight budget though. The abit seems to be the cheapest option!

the abit one looks pretty sweet. and coupled with a few low speed 120mm fans it should be nice cool and stable.

and ti fits my bodget the most. I will keep looking and if I cant get that one I might have to consider using an older processor (the prescott core) till Intel can issue a fix for that.
