My friend recently came over to my house with his laptop. Before I could connect him to my lan he detected several wireless networks in the area. I want to connect to these wireless networks, but I don't know what kind of adapter I need. I searched his laptop model and this is his network adapter http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/wireless_n/overview.htm

It seems he could get both N, and G signals

what would any of you guys suggest?

wait, so you & your friend are both trying to connect to some unknown wireless network? cant help you with that.. as that'd be illegal if you're not allowed to be on the network..

assuming that this is legal, get a card that supports g and both of you can connect to the same g college wireless network

also, you do know that you can just use hamachi to get your friend into your network?

doesn't have to be azazel.. like i said above, you could be connecting to a public network like at a college or coffee shop.

naw I got my internet, and its legal, plus that one is only 512kbp/s and mine is 5mbp/s

could anyone suggest a product that would work for me?

Is it really illegal if someone cant put a password on their internet? How can anyone differentiate between a public connection and a private with no way to do so? If it's public with no passwords, then it's free to use. That's just my opinion.
