Who the He77 is Aris and when did he/she/it tell (as in instruct) you to get that one? What justification did they use to get you to get something way WAY bigger than you need?

I think he's referring to crmaris. He was a respected PSU reviewer that did reviews here in the past. Don't know why he would have suggested an overkill PSU like that though.

You are just jealous, that my PSU is bigger than yours
Hey now. It's not the size of the PSU but the smoothness of the braided 24-pin power connector that matters.

I though it was the heritage of your caps? The caps in my PSU go three generations 100% Japanese

HaHa! You can always spot the amateurs in the crowd. They are the ones who think a bigger PSU is always better.

Fact: Wise, knowledgeable, and experienced users know the typical power supply works most optimally with a 50 to 70% load. He or she knows to properly size the PSU for job, they must select a PSU with that factor, among others, in mind to ensure they do not buy too small a PSU, or too large either.

So, jealous? No. Not hardly.

Does it "hurt" to have a PSU that is way WAY too big? It certainly will do no harm to the connected equipment. The components will simply demand only what they need, regardless how efficiently that power is being supplied to them. But it does typically put a bigger, and unnecessary dent in the purchasing budget, and it adds a few pennies to the operating costs when the supply is not operating at its ideal load.

So when I see where someone has purchased a PSU that is way WAY too big for their hardware's needs, especially at the direction of someone else, and then boast about it, I am reminded of the ancient proverb, 'A fool and his money are soon parted'! :D  ;)

Oh, I recognized your puerile comment was meant to be a joke. It just, like your next, wasn't humorous - or appropriate in a tech support forum.
