I gotta problem here and i have no idea how to fix it. I'm currently in the process of backing up my movies and shows to blank DVD discs and everything was going fine until a couple of days ago when the burning process slowed down considerably. Basically, what i do first is copy DVDs contents to HDD with DVD Shrink and then burn them onto a blank DVD with Nero. Originally it took DVD Shrink approx 15-20 min to copy a dual layer DVD to HDD now this process takes over 1 hour. For those not familiar with this utility it has a preview feature which allows one to preview the contents of the disc as its being copied. Well, the preview used to skip by really fast but now its like its being fast forwarded in slow motion which tells me that the burning rate has indeed slowed down. Similar problem with Nero, it used to take under 2 hours to copy a dual layer disc with data verification, now it takes almost 3. Anyone have any idea why all this is happening and how to fix it?

If you are using a IDE drive, check if you're running under PIO or DMA mode

I havent changed any Windows or BIOS settings at all so thats why i dont understand the cause of this change, its just so weird.

I'm actually going to test in the other DVD-Rom i have and see if i get the same results, prolly should've done this first before bringing this up, lol

Well, i got this sorted out. Apparently my DVD burner was the culprit which really sucks since its almost new and i only had for 3 months. i'll be RMAing it shortly.
