So I had my pc for about 3 months now and this is getting annoying. So when I shutdown my pc my mouse and keyboard lights turn off but when I click my mouse After I shutdown the pc it lights up.This is kind of weird so when My pc is shutdown and after 20 seconds I click on my mouse and it lights up and turns on the pc Again automatically. If I shutdown my pc and wait like 1 minute and then click on my mouse it lights up but it does not turn on the pc automatically again it just stays light up.

So it seems to be that when I shutdown my pc and 10 seconds later I click my mouse it turns the pc back on again but if I wait 1 minute after I shutdown my pc and then click on the mouse it stay lit up but does not automatically turn on the pc.

So it like the pc has to wait a couple seconds to shutdown completely so that when I click my mouse the mouse lights up but does not turn on the pc.

This is kind of strange that after turning off my pc and automatically go to click my mouse to see if it turns my pc on which it does. But if I shutdown my pc And wait a while and then click my mouse it lights up but does not turn on my pc.

Is this normal and how do I stop my mouse from having power when the pc is shutdown and make my mouse not light up or turn on the pc automatically when I click on it.

I just want to shutdown the pc and my mouse would not have power or light up or turn on the pc again. I just want it to do nothing and just stay turn off with no power when the pc is shutdown.

Since this is happing every time I shutdown my pc I flip the power supply switch off so my pc would not have power to any usb device

There’s an option in the BIOS that allows powering on the PC via USB device. Usually the default is disabled, you will need to disable it. It should be in with the power management options such as S3/S4 sleep state, wake from sleep with USB device, PS/2 etc.

just go into settings in windows then system then power and sleep set to monitor and sleep to never than when you power off your system it will stay off tel you power it back on

I don't know if this is related, but I wanted standby power so I can charge my phone through the USB port, but I didn't want the keyboard or mouse turning the computer on and it started doing this out of the blue.

It turned out I had to change my power plan (control panel-->power options) to "Balanced" and it stopped doing that even though I went in and changed all the settings to the same settings I had under "High Performance." Some kind of wacky win10 thing.

Since my mouse is turning my pc on and lighting up all I did was every time I shutdown my pc I would switch the power supply off is that a bad thing

no, it shouldn't but it sounds like your pc is just going to sleep and you want it to shut down completely and like biffzinker said there is some power on states to USB devices

No, I turn my computer off at the PSU after I shut down every night.

It's a Bios setting when the system is shut down you can Wake on Lan, Wake by Mouse or Keyboard, and some other settings such as timer etc.

In power management in Windows the fast start option many people said if you unchecked it the pc usb devices would not have power after a shutdown

call me crazy but I leave my system running all the time I just turn off the monitor I have it that way so it can do all of it's maintenance

How is your power bill doing?

between $40 and $60 month

I used to have that issue no matter what i changed on my old x79 system.
ERP off was the only thing that worked.

It fine now but the only thing is after I shutdown my pc I click my mouse it just lights up so I just flip the PSU switch off and it go away

While I was on the Socket AM3+ Gigabyte 760 motherboard earlier I happened across these power on settings in power management of the BIOS. Turning on the 'ErP Support' disables the 'Power On By Mouse/Keyboard' settings.
