Will an i7 7700 (non-K) bottleneck a RTX 3060 Ti? My monitor is 1080p

Should be a decent combination. 1080p is not that demanding, even at 144Hz.

You can upgrade CPU/Motherboard another time.

I will probably buy a 3080 and I have a 6700K @ 4.5Ghz but I run at 1440p 165Hz, also a bottleneck, will upgrade CPU/Motherboard/RAM later, some other time.

Yes it will bottleneck it.
my brother has my 3080 right now and he said it’s 4fps faster than his 2080 super at 1080p he has a 7700k @5ghz
It will work good for you but you will see improvement with a better cpu.

It will be highly game dependant.

If game/engine can use HT, then you have 8 threads and it won;t be major. If the game is stuck with the 4 physical cores, the bottleneck is potentially major and variable as background processes can eat away at your game performance too.

But its a bottleneck either way. If you have a choice, invest in 6+ physical cores. 4 is old news.

depends on the exact game but the combination will provide more than playable FPS

You'll see an improvement, sure, however, as others have said, it depends on the game as to how much. The problem is more so the 4c/8t honestly.

It's really where you plant your goalpost, the 7700 non-k is very similar to the current i3-10100 (as mentioned above) You still are looking at very good FPS across the board and even in a difficult game like RDR2 the FPS avg is over 75.

The bottleneck always dedpends on the game, but short answer is yes.

This post on SOTR benchmarks is enlightening.

A 7700K w/2080 Super getting 124FPS at 1080P on that test. He is 11% GPU bound hence 89% CPU bound. The 2080 Super GPU can render at 165 FPS avg so he is losing around 40FPS due to CPU limitation.

A 3060 Ti is slightly faster than a 2080 Super, so you will definitely lose a lot in many games.

I do get a slight bottleneck with my 3080 with my 7700K it depends on the games though but in 1440p with 165hz monitor so it does help in a way.

No. Retire it, it has earned it by now

The problem is also that a CPU bottleneck isnt pretty on system responsiveness, frametimes... etc

A faster gpu can turn games into a stutterfest if the gpu isnt hard capped. The gap between top and bottom FPS gets larger
