I am going to let my bro use one of my 8800gs's for a while while im on vaca, would a 8800gs be bottlenecked by his board at 800/1950/1900(bios def) if his board runs at only pcie 4x(gigabyte gzm) cause he is saying its only a bit faster than his 7600gs:wtf:

i know it sux , i know he got it for free

he is using a 7600gs right now

it should be a fair amount better than the 7600
even if it is a pcie 4x slot

It will still be faster in every way than the old card on that system.

i think your friend is already getting high enough fps with the 7600 that he cant really notice the change with the 8800

or is he noticing this because it shows him the fps?

is there any chance it's running at pci-e x1 speed?

also what cpu does he have and resolution does he play at?

he's playing mainly mmo's like cabal and everquest 2@ 1280x720

well I got back home form vaca today :( and shot off an email to xfx and they say that because of the high oc on the cards and the fact that the pcie is being bottlenecked by the pci-e 4x slot, its like running an 8800GT on pci-e 4x so I guess we can go get a cheap board for him, I'm not payin though lol.

and the card was running faster than he thought it was, he was just bein a dick about it.

but it was running loke my old 7950gt would so that like lol

now I know to never put anything above a 8800 in a pcie 4x slot lol

OK I need a little help, I know why it runs like crap now, I was tinkering around with it today and played one of the games he said played like crap and I noticed the HDD wasn't that noisy and it used to be, so I looked at the UDMA settings and its running at UDMA mode 2, even my old laptop ran at UDMA 6 so how do you change the UDMA settings when theres nothing in the bios that allows you to.

the HDD is a old maxtoor 200gb but it supports UDMA 6
