Will rx 6000s be good for streaming

Hey guys planning on getting the rx6800xt is it good for streaming or am I fining to be lagging like crazy also does amd plan on fixing the drivers

It shouldn't lag crazy at all, you'll probably be looking at more workforce available on the encoder on those cards. What are you currently doing that lags crazy? Could be Internet, CPU doing the streaming, etc.

Depends on what quality you'll be streaming and which game. Also, the in-game settings will be a factor. But the 6800XT should be great. I run a 5700XT on a 1440p monitor and I can stream without lag etc.

i like to play warzone and stream in 1080p 60fps but I crash and get frame drops like crazy or ill see the frames sit around 90 which is way lower then usual

Using my time machine I was able to test the RX 6800XT against the Nvidia RTX 3060 super. I found the AMD drivers are still buggy for Far Cry 6 & Bloodlines 2 but I was unable to test it on Cyberpunk 2077 as the game is still delayed. Streaming stopped being a thing in the future so no need to worry about it.

In regards to actually answering OP to some degree, was the GPU encoder for RDNA basically abandoned by AMD? I never really heard any mention of it before google searching a few minutes ago, apparently it's called VCE? I didn't see any mention of GPU encoder improvements in the RDNA2 announcements either so I'm wondering if AMD is just rolling over and letting NVENC be the go-to.

Note: I know absolutely jack shit about encoding, NVENC, etc. All I know is NVENC is regarded as good - maybe OP was thinking about hardware encoding capabilities (but that still doesn't solve the problem that nobody knows until the cards are released/review come out)

NVENC is decent, but a CPU with a truckload of power can be even better. In this case, AMD doesn't really need to roll over.

Okay, that's sort of how I understood it - just trying to think about what OP could have been referring to when they asked if RX 6000 will be "good for streaming".

Technically speaking, the GPU encoder in the new big Navi cards shouldn't actually have issues with streaming Warzone at FHD on some basic streaming settings. However, if you don't know what you're doing and just put everything in auto in whatever streaming app you use, then you're obviously bound to run into issues. Auto doesn't always detect the best method, and seems to be what the OP is doing. He realistically really might not even need a new card at all.

Just forget it lol I might just get the 3080 for the. Encoder then because I noticed that I lost a lot of performance when streaming and every time I stream I’m like Dang I wish I had nvenc to help me kinda keep my frames realitivly the same while streaming

For that price, you could probably get a new Ryzen AND a big Navi. Then choose which one to stream from, and get better performance from the CPU end with respectable GPU performance as well when you're not streaming. What you're thinking of is literally an awful idea.

Well this seems to be a mentality of "I have money I have to spend right away", at a card that is likely very overpriced in your country. So no, that one is still a bad purchase.
