I've been trying to find a solution to this, but to no success....

I've successfully setup my Chromecast on my TV (2nd gen). I did the whole reset process and completed the setup through the Home app on my android mobile. I can cast with my mobile to my tv, but when I am trying to cast from my desktop PC, I cannot even get the chromecast icon to appear on either Chrome or Brave! Whether it's on youtube or any other media websites.

I tried enabling " Connect to Cast devices on all IP addresses " in chrome://flags, relaunched and even restarted my PC. Still no chromecast.

In brave://settings/extensions , I tried re-enabling "Media Router" and relaunched. Still "No devices found"...

I have no anti-virus stuff running.

I have a mesh system running for my network (2.4ghz), but both the tv, my pc and chromecast are all connected to the network without any problems.

So. How do I fix this? Any suggestions?

I cast from my PC to a Chromecast quite often. I move the chromecast around to various TVs inside and outside of the home. Over the years I have run into two primary issues that don't allow me to cast. The first is running a VPN. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. If you're running a VPN, try casting without it or try connecting to a new server. The second issue has happened from time to time and is related to my PC being hardwired to my router. There have been times that the only way it would allow me to cast was to connect my PC to my local wifi (which is what the Chromecast is connected to). Other times, and recently, I haven't had that issue. Tangentially, I've also have an issue where if my PC is connected to the 5ghz band but Chromecast is connected to the 2.4, it won't allow the casting.

I can't say if any of those will help, but I hope so. In general, most times I have no issue casting but then there will be days where its just a nightmare and I've reset, reset, reset, reconnected, etc, over and over and over to get it to work.

I'll add I only ever use Chrome to cast.

Is your PC wired to your router? If yes (and this is important), are your wired and wireless networks actually the same network (as in the same address range)?
