So, Windows 10 Game Mode has been tested by pcgamer.com, results, as i have predicted awhile ago are within margin of error:

I think it is only going to help on systems that have bare minimum available RAM (read: budget laptops and tablets). It makes Windows back off so the game has access to more to prevent page file use. Additionally, as noted in the article, other issues with the "fast ring" release of Insider Edition could be negatively impacting the frame rate regardless of Game Mode. Game Mode should improve as it moves towards release.

Sooo...ATM it doesn't work at all. Or even worse...is detrimental. Good to know I'm not missing out on anything.:)

game mode does nothing but pause a few background services like windows update, that could otherwise lag out the system

If it does pause/stop internet usage in the background, that could actually make a huge difference in performance but not in terms of frames. I don't know if you've ever tried to play a game when Windows Update decided it was time but Windows Update eats all of the bandwidths available and makes everything (even light browsing) painfully slow. Let's hope that Game Mode does nip background downloads/uploads in the bud because that would be "yuge."

Well tech site users have been testing this for years now, like hell i used to bother with it turning as many services off as possible and pretty much the only thing it did was make the OS startup faster.

Interesting still seeing that the people who made the OS to try it as it's about time they did, maybe if the OS was dedicated to gaming would make much more of a difference. But think it be down to what you said.

i ran a LAN party where two people had no internet at home and their W10 installs decided to download so much it actually gave everyone 50 ping on my wifi network :/

It genuinely can make a performance difference on a pleb machine that isnt setup properly, but its not going to make maximum FPS any better - just raise the minimum for some.
