Can you just upgrade to this after installing windows 10, for free? or do i have spend 300 dollars for the OS?
Or is the latest update in Windows 10 pro, already has it?
I was thinking about trying out windows 10 on my workstation gaming system, but the only edition that i see i would be interested in , is the pro workstation one.

This pro workstation edition can you just upgrade from pro to "pro for workstation"?

As far as I can tell, no you can not do an anytime upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Pro Workstation. You have to buy Windows 10 Pro Workstation outright and install it fresh.

But the real question is, are you going to use the few extra features that Windows 10 Pro Workstation provides?

I doubt it, just figure because it's meant for workstations, and I'm using a workstation computer/products, it will make sense to get it hahaha. But i guess i could just use pro or enterprise edition.

It really isn't that much different from standard Windows 10 Pro, it just has support for 4 CPUs and more RAM, while regular pro is limited to 2 CPUs and 2TB of RAM.

Alright thanks. Will check out pro later today. Hopefully everything that's working on win7 works using windows 10.
Cheers.

It will. Not much change from windows 7 besides UI enhancements but they kept the Control Panel from Windows 7 just some settings taken out. Don't see why they did not just take the whole UI thing

Install windows 10 pro and windows 10 enterprise for testing. ( thank goodness i didn't buy them lol would have wasted money )

2 Recording problems don't work ( which work perfectly fine in windows 7 ), one of them won't even be detected in none of the games.
DX9 game performance, Mafia 2, Fear 1, Mercenaries 2, all run like crap, skipping, stuttering. Fear 1 which ran at 1080 max on win7 , i got 60fps, and around 50 when recording, now it drops down to 26-30fps.

Bottom line: Windows 10 is pretty, it looks better than windows 7, its also faster in terms of non gaming, whatever its copying files, moving around, browsing around, its slightly faster. But game performance blows. The OS is too buggy as well. I'm sticking with windows 7 which is better in terms of gaming and overall stability with running problems. I will use windows 10 on my secondary gaming workstation rig around winter time when i build it and only use it for "newer games". I still like windows 7 and as i said i always will, its just a better OS overall. Windows 10 clearly is aim only at newer games, which is why i said i will use it on my second rig. But i like an OS that can run pretty much anything, new and old without any issues and windows 7 has allow me to do that.

The cost for upgrading Windows 10 Home to Pro is $99 it does NOT mater how you got the Home version.
just go to system about and upgrade your home to pro via the link right there.

Id Rather have 10 Enterprise LTSB at this rate with the crap ms pulls with updates each and every build.

10 prettier!? Yeah right...

"Support for server grade hardware and optimized for handling large data volumes, auto-correcting and more"

Sounds like ZFS

I haven’t found that to be the case. As long as there is no drm on a disk based game, I have found Windows 10 plays nearly anything. Older games on non-drm dvd’s and virtually any digital game going way back to earliest dx9 it will play.

I’ve even run American McGee’s Alice, from 2000 on Windows 10. Your only real problem are DX8 and earlier, and many times installing a wrapper will work.

I play neverwinter nights 1 as in not the mmo via raw install on 10. It launched in 2002 and runs fine.

I play RailRoad Tycoon on Windows 10, a game that was originally released on 5 1/4" floppy...

Hey guys, i was so obsessed with windows 10 lol, i decided to go back to the OS and try again. Everything is working smooth and good, dx11 games run much better also. The game issue is fixed, but i have a question, my desktop refresh rate is 60hz, but i notice in every game i am playing, its always stuck at 1080p 59hz. I'm assuming it's the driver i am using, which is the latest one for my Workstation GPU?
Game runs fine at 59hz though.

Sorry using these drivers
