Nope just a local account i ended up doing a another install LOL.

May i politely enquire, does this mean your forced to sign into microsoft/live etc if you want to install win 8?? Very curious.

its optional. you can force local login only, MS has done it to 'sync' between your various machines (no idea what actually syncs)

My surfing history for one, which is weird cause I done a clean install not an upgrade yet all my history was in IE from my previous Win7/8 upgrade, not highly keen on this as that means it must be in "the cloud" somewhere as well as other stuff I'm not aware of. Anyway to opt out of sync?
