I've been trying to burn an .avi to a DVD-R with Windows DVD Maker, and it burns fine but when I play it back on a PS2, or a DVD player, anything but my PC, the audio quality is terrible, not even slightly good, it sounds like its being played through a cell phone that is picking up a microphone conversation over vent that is taking place under water.

I'm installing Nero, hoping that works better. Does anyone know why the audio is so terrible on playback?

Nevermind then, I found a great program that converts anything to DVD and then burns it in record time with amazing quality.

check out sothink's dvdmaker. It will automatically convert avi (and others) files to mpeg2 for a dvd. But what is really cool is that if you don't care about picture quality (viewing on mobile screen in car for example), you can put as many titles as you want within reason on the recording and it will automatically resample/downsample them to a size that will fit.

It's 100% free but at the start of each chapter/file there is a 5 second or so blurb for the product - no audio, just a green screen with "Sothink" and some other stuff. You can fastforward if you want. It doesn't lock you in.

Thanks, I'm using ConvertXtoDVD which works great but I'll look into Sothink's DVDmaker.
