hi there,
in windows media player if u select TOOLS-OPTIONS-PERFORMANCE-ADVANCED it brings up a window called video acceleration settings and in the bottom right of that window is an option call Preferred Decoder and under that it says Hardware or software and mine has the dot next to software but its all greyed out so i cant select hardware. now i remember ages ago i was able to select this hardware option (maybe prev version of media player) but how can i choose hardware now ?

Same thing happens to me, I hadn't noticed it before. I expect it could link to external software such as PowerDVD which probably controls most videos in WMP (you need the codecs to play DVDs ect), so I wouldn't worry too much. I can't find a fix for it, might even be linked to driver settings, but whenever I do use it performance is fine so I wouldn't worry too much if I were you.
