What could be causing this problem? windows runs fine most of the time some times in games my computer freeze :banghead: please help could it be my motherboard? its not the video card i've had to both did the same and don't no if its the ram cpu is a mouth old

Are you setting the OC back to stock settings, in my mind if not , the OC is too high causing instability, not a specific component!

What I mean to say is this...if you put it all back to stock , does it fail orthos? If the answer is yes then there is a component issue.
If it does'nt fail orthos @ stock, then it only makes sense that the OC is too high for orthos to run!

fails on stock don't no why

first off you are running a blend test in orthos...no way to tell which is failing. But if windows memtest is failing , that leads me to thinkk its the ram....Try another ram test such as say Prime95 to verify a ram issue.

i tested it again Orthos did'nt fail so this problem is off and on ? what can i do don't think its the ram because when i had 2gb i moved the for slots 1,3 to 2,4 and mem test passed so i don't no what i can do?

how long are you testing with orthos....most ppl say it needs to go for a while to verify with certainty!

personally if I had this issue I would do almost everything in my power to make it fail. Maybe 4-8 hrs of Orthos, same w/P95 or an extreme load test. Run everything you got then open orthos, see if it still passes!

ok will run it over night will get back to you thanks

its pasted with only 2GB in slots 2,4 but most of the time slots 1,3 it fails? is it the board

could it be the board or the ram ?

when you said 1,3 slots is it with the same sticks you tyred in 2,4 ?

yer same sticks but it dosn,t happen all the time when i use 1,3 slots its ok most of the time but then its starts playing up don't no why?

Turn ALL the fans down and note any squealing. Possibly a motherboard problem, try one stick at a time though. If it does crash but "rarely" there IS a problem.

can't hear any squealing so do you think its the board sould i use my eVGA board and send the asus off for repair or could it be one of the sticks of ram

4 DIMM can cause stability issues, but it looks like its your motherboard in this case.

ok thanks i had the problem when i had only 2 as well so ill have to send it off

I would not send it away until running Memtest 86+ first and ensuring it is not the RAM

ok thanks will test it now

will i run Memtest 86+ it come up with one error saying this test 8, pass 2,failing address 0411344026c-44040mb, good ffffffff, bad fffffeff, err-bits 00000100,count chan 1 dosn't this test never stop it when on for 14 hours found the same error 3 times?

No it won't stop, it has a series of tests and when it gets thru with all of them that is one pass. Often a problem won't show up on the first pass, but will on the second or third. This is often true with a intermittent problem. That is why people serious about the RAM run Memtest at least as long as you did. Yours reports the same error. I would look on that www.memtest.org site for an answer.

that sites no help you have to buy the cd
