Hey, I woke up this morning, turned on my PC and Windows decided to take forever to load, nearly half an hour... O_o Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks in advance.

there are lots of reasons
hdd diying
bios problems
etc.

in wich part did it toke more time?

The Windows Loading screen, with the blue bar, I reset just to see if it would do it again.. now the blue bar ain't moving at all. Its just frozen at that screen.

happened to me on an old system, turned out to be the hdd, it died....
not saying thats what it is, but it was mentioned before, and its a strong possibility.

Damn... I can remember the same problem happening to a friend of mine, he put in a soundcard that his Pc or windows.. which ever one, didn't like.
The thing is i haven't changed anything.. and it was workin flawlessly last night.. :(

same thing happened to mine. shut it down one night when it was running great, went to bed, came home from school and turned it on, took 45 minutes to boot.
here's what you do:
dont turn on the computer till you get a new hdd. put your old failing hdd in 2x one gallon freezer bags (one inside the other) put the hdd in the freezer overnight. put the new hdd in the computer. take the old hdd out of the freezer and put it into the computer. COPY ALL IMPORTANT DATA AS FAST AS POSSIBLE!!! you will have 15-20 minutes from when you take the hdd out of the freezer before it fails for good.

I can't afford a new Hdd. Lol Im 15, I don't have a job until Feb. and i've spent all my money on a laptop. :(

So. Its DEFINATLY the Hdd? Its not that old..

Well, a GOOD antivirus & antispyware (if not antirootkit) scan is in order no doubt... but, humor me:

Run services.msc, & tell us if you have stopped the RPC service... (not RPC locator, but RPC itself).

It SHOULD be set as a startup type of AUTOMATIC, & left so... do NOT mess w/ it!

APK

P.S.=> I have done that while experimenting w/ this OS family early on, in an attempt to conserve memory & CPU cycles, gaining them back for apps I actually use, & that is NOT one to cut off... it causes symptoms like you describe if you do... apk

Sounds like your hdd is on its way out to me.Download UBCD from http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and burn it on a friends computer. It has all the stuff on there you need to test the various makes of harddrive and more.
