As title says...Windows XP asking me to install Driver for PnP Devices? This includes mouse, external hdd, thumb drives etc...

it never done this before, and it ask me this when i switch the device between usb ports. basically the add hardware dialog box comes on, and i hit, next,next...and so on, and hit continue anyways on driver signing...blah..blah, and done. BUT WHY do i have to do this. this is becoming very annoying.

Any idea's???

To restate the problem, all my PnP "driver free" devices for xp are prompting the Add Hardware dialog...rather than automatically install the device.

Same issue

Hi,

I am experiencing the same issue when trying to plug in any optical mouse with my new ASUS LAPTOP. Then when I try to install the driver, it does not manage to find any driver, wherever the directory I place it in.

I am therefore unable to use a USB optical mouse with my LAPTOP.

Any idea on how to fix this PnP problem ? or Driver problem ?

yayox

I cant find the answer for this problem, so i ended up reinstalling xp.
