Hello all,
I have a rather large set of problems preventing my computer from really working well, which are going to be problems in the long run. I have just come back into the country as I work overseas to see that my daughter has seemingly ruined the house computer. I'm usually quite good at sorting these things out, but this situation has me at a loss. Maybe you can help.
I have two drives, both with XP installed on them, one set to master, one to slave of course, but on the 320GB HD, Windows activation has failed. Well. Ish. I boot it up, and it says that it needs to activate now, as the time period has expired, so I tell it I would like to activate and it says I have already activated. Then logs me off.
So I thought, ah, this is unfortunate, but still, at least I can boot off my other drive. Which, in fairness, I can, but it appears the installation is riddled with faults; everytime I start a windows application like Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat keeps coming up and saying it wants to install, and then it cannot find required files. I have not had acrobat on my system for many years. There were also other problems as well. Such as Windows components missing, like the on screen keyboard, and a few other accessories.
So I thought, screw it! I'll back everything up and format. So, I inserted my CD in the drive, and rebooted. But, For whatever reason, my keyboard is not on during the "Press any key to boot from CD" Screen, so does anyone know of a way to boot without a keyboard? Or how I can do this?
My keyboard is the Saitek Eclipse II, and my motherboard the AA8 Duramax 3rd Eye.
Any ideas on how to get past this activation issue, or to get my keyboard to work would be much appreciated.
Oh, I forgot. One last thing: I also tried to install WinXP from the CD while I was logged in on Windows, but it gave me an error during installation saying that Access was denied?
Thanks for your help.
