Hello all, you have helped me countless times over the months, and i may need to call on you again.

the project this time is, a 100% overclock.

the Chip is a Intel Pentium dual Core E2140 1.6ghz, and as you can guess the aim is 3.2ghz

i have 3 motherboards that i can potentially try this overclock on.

Gigabyte G31M-S2L----- Intel G31
Gigabyte G33M-DS2R---- Intel G33
Asus P5N32-E SLi------- Nvidia 680i

i have a feeling my best shot at this is one of the intel chipset boards, as i have a Q6600 that runs 24/7 @ 400fsb, which is exactly what the E2140 needs to hit to run at 3.2

in terms of cooling i have spare full and half height intel stock coolers, and i have a spare Thermaltake BigTyp 120 VX. < (the TT cooler keeps an E4500 [2.2ghz] at 1-3 degreees above room temp, but over clocked is naturally a different story)

gievn my over clocking experience, which is extensive, a punt at the settings i will need to get it running at that speed would be.

FSB 400 (1600)
Multi @ 8x
ram linked at 2x for 800mhz
1.45-1.55v for the cpu
an extra 0.2v for the NB
and naturally all of the silly settings like EIST off :P

I would say 2.4ghz is a shoe in, which is already a 50% oc, however everything past that will be uphill.

thoughts? my last work day of the week is today, so ill have a whole weekend to tweak this thing.

e2140 you bastard I wish I had one. 680i for sure 1.3v should be enough.

with a 3.8ghz quad you wish you had a E2140? i can only guess you would want it for the same reasons i do :P

so you reckon 680i and 1.3v? my personal experiences have shown the intel chipsets to oc better, especially on the Quads.

oh I sold that ages ago, never updated my System Specs. I have a e8500 @ 5.1 but I love Allendales my favorite budget overclockers since the XP 2500+ (unlocked) it's too bad the E2140 is EOL that was the best one.

yeah totally, i got 1 free GHZ from my original Allendale

E4500 2.2ghz @ 3.2ghz, effortlessly. back in the day i was so happy to get 2.93 out of it cos thats what the core 2 Extreme X6800 was clocked at :)
