Xeon e3-1225 LGA 1155, 4 cores and 4 threads paired with an rx 580 8gb.
I plan to get the ryzen 5 3600.
Would I be able to get 75 fps (or 60..) on low to medium, or even high at these settings?
I plan to play like, cs:go, for honor, fortnite, apex legends, etc.
I think I'd be able to get at least 60 fps on low.
-------
side note: really excited for 3rd gen, according to this article I read the ryzen 5 3600 will have 8 cores and 16 threads and is able to be OCed to 4.4GHZ (PROBABLY EVEN MORE)
I don't want to waste money on 2nd gen ryzens when I could have better performance for like $30 more.

yikes, easy their chief. thats an Ex series CPU not an X or a W. I work on these in servers, and honestly havent touched xeon in a normal ATX case since like socket 1366, but IIRC, these CPUs did NOT work without server boards. The x and W series needed WS branded (work station) boards to boot. Though some of the high high end boards would boot W and X xeons.

Also when it comes to E series xeons. just a tip. the v afterwards matters. on one of my lab servers for example I run a E3-1230 v3 which is NOT the same CPU or socket as E3-1230v2

Just google around to make sure someone with the motherboard you are planning to run it in has used a e series xeon before.

I do know we have a xeon club though. Maybe those guys could pitch in. They use these kinds of chips as daily drivers.

So what happened to the pre build system you had that you were going to install your new PSU into and buy an 6>8pin adaptor for your 580. Honestly, you seem a bit like a kid in a candy store, with so many different ideas coming into your head at one time and you're not able to focus on one in particular. Your current build isn't even up and running, now your talking about Xeon CPU's and Ryzen 3 (it's actually Ryzen 2 but W/E) slow it down on all the new threads, I get it you're excited as this is your first PC that you have had a hand in customising but honestly take things slowly, think things through, a lot of people myself included have spent their time which doesnt come for free usually in trying to guide and advise you in the right direction, slow it down a little as if you keep making new threads like the thoughts just pop into your head and you write them out then people are going to be less inclined to want to help you.

What's your current status with the pre build PC you have bought and you trying to get your 580 into it?

Do that. you've spent near enough $ on this PC you could have built an i7/2700x w/1070 as it is already.

TBH, i5-2500 is like $30 used, I could put it in a $50 mobo, then use my current ram. I should easily get 60fps+ on low or medium settings. Maybe even on high

This is around my budget, think it would do?

Yay, problem is solved. I am excited for "3rd gen" ryzen.

I'm sure, I'll have a lot of time to save up, before I need to upgrade

It's not horrible, but not great. I've had to use stuff to get me by until better stuff came along... just be patient, I'm sure you'll get what you need.
