Would this fit on a Athlon64 CPU?

no it is made for an AMD Socket A processors so it would not fit you need to find stuff for p4 processors

Cheers m8 :)

shims usualy damage thermal conductivity, not improve it, usualy make out of aluminium and the thermal interface used isnt exactly artic silver 5,

most hardcore overclockers usualy get a razor and remove it,

Shims aren't intended to improve thermal transfer, rather than protect the core.

You do not need a shim for A64's as they have heatspreaders. Much like P4's.

If your looking for an A64 shim, you dont need to be taking the IHS off anyways.

sorry, confused shim with heatspeader.
just making that point since most people think shims improve thermal interface, and they dont,

i remember a product which came out for the athlon XP once, it was a copper heat speader which you fixed on,
unfortunatly, they didnt sell many due to the fact that it raised core temperature 2-3 degrees C,

shims where usualy used to avoid extra pressure on the core with "exposed core" processors like the socket A athlons/durons/samprons and Pentium 3 processors (tualatin excluded, they had heat speaders), so when installing heavy heatsinks, the pressure of that SLK900 or alpha pal wasnt all on the core,
