So I own a few Oculus headsets. When the CV1 was released at Best Buy, I picked one up. This was years ago of course. I used it for a long time until the Rift S was released and then packed it away on a shelf. Well, today I was pulling the original box down so I can pack it up proper like, and while looking in the box, I noticed this pull tab and pulled it. What I discovered blew my mind! Under that flap was a brand-new Xbox One controller, cable, batteries, wireless dongle, etc.

Now the idiot part of me knew I was supposed to get these items, but I guess in my excitement to try VR out for the first time, I never opened that flap, never saw these items and for years thought I 1. lost these items or 2. never received them.

/sigh

I'm going to leave them in the box. May as well keep it complete. :)

Shiny-new. Still a decent controller too.

Yeah, hence why I purchased several. Up until recently I exclusively used those controllers for PC duty but recently started using my PS5 controller instead. I literally BOUGHT one because I thought my Oculus didn't come with one or that I had lost it, but I didn't believe I could lose one. Good lord.

Don't beat yourself up about it mate. It happens to the best of us. I was gifted a new Oculus Rift around its first significant price reduction holiday season. While I was aware of the XBox controller and the Oculus single hand pointing device (clicker or whatever it was called) I never actually used them. My Oculus Rift was packaged exactly like yours, however, my model included the Touch controllers in a different box, although, it was an inclusive bundle. Later version of the Oculus Rift likely packaged the Touch Controllers with the Rift HMD in the same box but I'm not sure.

Point being, with the Touch controllers there was little to no reason to use the Xbox controllers or the Oculus braded single handed clicker (or whatever it was called).

Thanks for sharing this, guys! I'm not a big fan of VR gaming, by my kids are starting to get kinda loud about it haha
So, good that they come with controllers, though the devs should definitely emphasize that on the package somewhere, it feels like a light puzzle judging from the pics

No worries mate, VR isn't for kids under ~12 or ~13 or so I'm told. If the kids are younger then that you've got a built in excuse not to bite,.......if you want that is,....

You flew to close to the sun, WhiteNoise. For too long you have soared on the wings on your own assumed brilliance and competence, but sooner or later we all must learn that we are human. Feel the darkness tugging at your heels, give up on your feverish dreams of box-competence. Join us, down here in the cold and dank muck, clawing desperately towards a presumably better tomorrow, forever isolated by our dreams and our hope. Join us. You will never be better.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about that! Much obliged :)
Seems like I got a few more fiscal years before such expenditures haha

I don't think its your fault, the packaging appears somewhat misleading. Out of curiosity, was the PS5 controller plug and play?

Wasn't there a Xbox One controller as a bundle since they didn't have those Touch controllers yet? I have the later bundle with Touches.

@Kissamies Yeah, it came with an xbox controller and remote. I think what happened was I had an existing xbox controller that i used with my PC so i just grabbed it instead of the one in the box.

Later when the touch controllers released, I purchased that kit.
