I've spent like a whole night reading up on flashing the XT to an XTX.
And yes i know it's better to OC than to flash.

I've also come across this guy on this forum saying he has an XT with the 1.2ns vram, and he flashed his to an XTX.

The guy here did it

Now i'm asking, is it possible?
Because i was one of the unlucky ones and got an XT with the 1.2ns Infinetion mem chips. (horrible, i know)

There are 2 Toxic XTX bioses here

One says Samsung 1.1ns, and the other, would it be a 1.2ns bios maybe?

Well, he also did say he modified the toxic XTX bios to be compatiable with the 1.2ns vram.
Could anyone help me on modifying the toxic XTX bios?

AND the most important thing would be, that guy flashed his XT with 1.2ns vram, so can i right?

Edit: I just googled up x1900xt 1.2ns speeds, and apperernlty 800mhz IS the speed for 1.2ns memory chips

http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=x1900xt+1.2ns+speed&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

To be more precise,

Look at the memory chip if you scroll down, you'll see they said 1.2ns corresponds to 800mhz

Hmmm....

I even have my card clocked at 688/873 core and mem respectively.

So if modding the xtx bios to 800mhz, the card should turn on and work properly right?

But the question is, the toxic's bios is at 806mhz, and i should modify the ram to be 800mhz.

Does the 6mhz really makes a difference if yoru card works properly after the flash or not?

You know what, actually i read the guy's signature, and he had a guide that had all the answers for me

But can anyone tell me why, i flashed my card, it shows XTX when i boot up in the bios, and then i boot into windows, and CCC shows the clock is the same as my X1900XT stock clocks.

I use ATIWinFlash, and save the bios from the card, and it's the toxic's speeds.

I load up ATI Tools, and it clocks the card back to what the clocks are supposed to be.

Do you think windows causing this?

I would just OC the XT beyond XTX speeds if I were you...then maybe modify the XT's BIOS for those OC'd speeds (OC with only vGPU, as that's all Rabit allows adjustment on)...and go that route...

No sense in using an XTX BIOS IMO...

But as-far-as not ID-ing the card...did you re-install drivers after the flash?

ATITOOL 0.26 :rockout:

be using it and it works in Windows XP

what OS are you using ?

I flashed my card with the XTX bios straight on.

It worked perfectly according to the guy's thread.

I'm using win xp.

Did you re-install drivers after the flash???

From the guide, no driver installation was required.

I PMed the guy, and he told me, that when it boots into windows the card is running at 2D clocks. It does the same with the XT stock bios.

The clock will switch to 3D mode and 675/801 when i enter a 3D game, and i'll see the screen flicker, as it auto jumps clocks.

I though that was a logitcal explanation as in RaBit, there is a 2D profile and a 3D profile.

So i tried counterstrike, i loaded it up, i didnt see a screen flicker. I minimzed cs, and loaded CCC, it still shows lower clocks as of in 2D mode.

I did the same thing with NFS:MW. Still 2D clocks.

I'm thinking it's my windows. But does anyone have any ideas?

You're seeing 2D clocks when you alt-tab out because it detects a 2D environment and sets the 2D clocks again.

Get RivaTuner and use the system monitor to actually plot a graph of your clocks and you'll see that it's running @ 3D clocks @ XTX speeds.

Isnt this a ddr3 vs ddr4 thing? therefore impossible?

edit: probably not, since ddr4 wasnt out then :p

Yeah you're thinking the x1950 series...pretty much the same on XT and XTX, except the x1950xtx had gddr4...

On the 2D/3D switching, yeah that's part of the "power saving", and really there's only so much you can do there to verify, but in reality it will switch when 3D mode is detected...like said earlier, ALT-Tabbing back to desktop will also switch the card to 2D mode. I experienced this some with my x1950xtx...but I also didn't get a "flicker" going into 3D mode either...

What drivers are you running?

One last note, if you notice better performance in games, then you're set...IMO you still would've been better off just making a couple backups of your stock XT Bios and modifying that based off of OC clocks you found with ATI Tool...but everyone has their preference, glad to see the XTX flash worked...did you verfiy with GPU-Z?

Keep us posted on your results! :toast:

Verify with GPUz... hadnt thought of that!

But when i boot up, the screen flashes X1900XTX Bios :D

Drivers, latest ATI drivers.
Not into the whole 3rd party driver thing, unless something catches my eye.
Too lazy to research 3rd party drivers. =)

I have edited the toxic xtx bios 2D profile to the same speed as 3D.
My temps never go beyond 72c :D

So it doesnt really matter to me.

Guess what.
I picked up an X1900GT for about $35 CDN. (Good price i know)
And i`m the 3rd lucky guy from that dead forum of UNLOCKING YOUR X1900GT.

I have the GB_PIPE_SELECT IS 0x3FE4, and R580 ENG SAMPLE... printed right on the core itself.

Lucky me...

I`ve actually tested it card. It runs fine at toxic`s xtx speeds. :D
Apperernly it has 16 pipes active... hmm.. looks like an XT...

Great! Now i can run it at toxic`s XTX speeds and have a blazing fast crossfire system.

Yay me. =)

I've just checked with GPUZ.

Like before GPUZ doesnt tell me if my card is an X1900XTX or XT or what ever.

It just tells me that it's a X1900 Series card.
