Hi, I got myself a little problem with my ASUS X1950Pro HTDP, it seems that my ati2mtag.sys file is been causing some troubles in my logfiles. It reboots my computer regularly, about 4 times a week (24/7 online). Does anyone know how to fix or get like a patched file?

Here are 2 links to two errors it tells me:

Btw I know the pictures are in Dutch. Sorry about that.
Thanks

PS I know I posted this topic also in General hardware,

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest catalyst from ATI/AMD website? You may have to do a driver cleanup before doing so.

I have downloaded the drivers from there. and it doesn't matter if I use the Asus CD or download the drivers after new windows install. Is there maybe a patch or something to that file related to this graphic card? cause I don't know anything else myself

Hi there.

Like he said try driver cleaner and then install the new drivers.

Oke did that. Lets hope it's good now. else, I'll be back

You can safely disable ati2mtag.sys via services.msc. It should fix the problem.

Yep, does for my system, and I'm using a 1950Pro too ;)

ed- I mean set to manual, so in the unlikely event a call is made, it can still execute.

Oke, but got a problem, I can't find it in MMC Services. Only see ATI Hotkey poller, and ATI smart

it should be there, try arranging the services by startup type and checking all services that automatically start with windows.

you mean in msconfig or something?

In services.msc

Yeah, I don't have it there, Can't I just delete the file?

I found out the ATI drivers doesn't have a ati2mtag.sys file but a ati2mtag.sy_ :S weird. Same file?

That maybe the file (compressed version). Why don't you try renaming it from sy_ to sys, and see if you still get the same error.
