Got this motherboard today with i7 3930k CPU. I've got error code 97 with MSI r9 390 8 GB card, gtx 780 and MSI 970 no post just black screen, but when I'm using the msi 5700 series GPU it's post and no problem at all. Bios is up to date. I haven't tried any diagnosed. I need your opinion before I mess with it.. thanks in advance

flash latest BIOS. SOme of the 3-series CPUs don't properly support PCIE 3.0; this is down to BIOS as well as the chip itself. Some can do it, others cannot.

Thanks but it's on the latest bios when I. Got it. I'll try to re flash the bios let see what happens. Thanks

also, try other PCIE slots. This is just an issue within the platform itself and certain hardware combos just do not work quite right no matter what you do.

We had a thread recently, maybe in the summer, with a user with pretty much the same problem, IIRC, but it was a different board.

I would try "locking" PCI-e speed to 2.0.
My Sabertooth X79 has that option.

Yes I have one in my partner pc. Wait I'll try......

Edited:
Just re seat the CPU ram and everything but

No luck still 97 error.
I wonder how to flash bios I can't see the options on uefi

I have file now.

Most modern motherboards ,if you can hook it by ethernet to your network, you can do it all within the UEFI, otherwise look under tools either way thats were u should find bios settings

No options for bios to be flashed. Goodness me...

Flashing now from latest to old. Tried re flash the latest but no luck.

Edit:

Still no luck.....

Thanks for your reply.

I looked in your specs , my bad

After 4hrs I fixed the error 97 now my 3.0 GPU post in bios but another problem came in. It won't boot in Windows post error 0d, tried usb bootable tried cd boot disk nothing happens still 0d error. It's driving me crazy.

probably doesn't have proper UEFI support perhaps, so maybe look at boot options...

Be certain that your storage settings werent changed. some boards switch back to IDE mode on their own or by default

Also Try pressing F1 while that error message code is on screen see if anything else happens. What cooler do you have on that CPU?

Cooler master hyper evo

Tried everything in bios but error still showing. This motherboard is really rubbish.

Symtoms flashing a wrong bios [able to boot but stuck on os installation]. Try the same bios version of the specified mainboard.

After downgraded the BIOS it happens this problem. Created usb bootable with original bios but didn't boot from usb even I chose to boot. Nothing still got 0d error.

According to ECS website these mainboards only support up to 2 gb vram. It should be fine if everything above those capacity able to post. Try install on mode IDE instead of AHCI with several version of os [XP/7/8/10/Linux]

2gb graphics card? Ok I will test it again later. Let see if it's work. Thanks

Ok how did you resolve the problem?
