Hey so i just picked up a sapphire GTO2 LE its the lite retail edition, now first off, IT IS NOT a R480 Core, and second there is no external power connecter wich is weird, so i thought i would flash it as it is a R430 core, and all i keep getting is cannot open file when i try and flash the card, any ideas?

long filename issue

I have cut the filename down severly, i mean how short does it have to be? i mean right now i think its like Sapphire16.bin, is that still too long?

Yeah i did, i tried like Xgt2.bin and still same thing, oh well i think i am just gunna take it back tomarrow, as this only has the R430 core anyways, think i'll grab the 6800GS instead.

some cards may not be flashed even tho they are sapphire and gto2..
i seem to remember so have seen an article about a line of gto2 cards which were "faulty". in the way that they could not be flashed... bad luck m8..

//Sweet™

Meh oh well i'm gunna take it back in the morning, i don't wanna deal with this, if it would have been a good X800GTO2 like it was supposed to be i would tottaly keep it and what not, but as is, i can get a 6800GS O/C the snot outta it and be styling.

my bin file's name was 2.bin and it flashed fine.. dont complicate things please.

yours is the first i have heard of with gto2 that comes with no power connector, are you sure its not a powercolor card or a true gto2? Newer gto2s have dual DVI and VIVO. Even though the bios says r430 the newer gto2s are still r480s just using the r430 xl bios, you have to remove the stock cooler to verify what core you have. If yours is a gto2 i would be wary of any card that says SE or LE at the end.

Nope i physically pulled off the HS and cchecked it was an R430, the card was blue, had no power connector was a Sapphire GTO2 Limited Edition. It came in a Lite retail box (one of the small ones) and no matter what i tried it would not flash, i even tried getting it just to a X800XL, seeinng as how it had that core, but no avail, i finally said screw it and took it back and got the 6800GS.

you cant get us the fuses info now, can you?

No sorry i took the card back, but when i looked at the Fuses, they looked exactly like the fuses on the card in the picture on the page on the site. Thats why i thought it could flash. i should have taken a picture of it or something to show you guys.

Yup that would be exactly what my card looked like, man am i ever glad i took it back, it was a bad card, there is no doubt that the GTO2 is a sweet card when you get a good one, but those ones are terrible.

I got one of these for my mates machine, it was a green pcb with no power connector i wrote a thread a while back about it with the info in. im sure all the FFFFFFF where the same as on my GTO2 which is a few months old now so red with a power connector. i didnt try to flash it as i wasnt willing as it wasnt mine, lucky enough the lad who i got it for dont know the difference so happy anyway. gutted that there still puttin these out and there not even the same card anymore.

Yeah, I ordered from newegg the sapphire 100130 model on 1/26/06, its the one thats the OEM version of the card that has one analog plug and one dvi plug. The day after I ordered it they discontinued that model from their website like I had gotten their last one. When it came in, it was the red board with power connector and when I checked it in ATITool it said that it only had 12 pixel pipelines an it was being read as a R480, so I'm assuming that it was one of the older cards. It flashed perfectly and I overclocked it to 540/590 without a problem, I know it'll go higher easily. The newer cards that came out around mid-dec were coming with 16 pipelines unlocked and a R430 bios but still had the R480 chip in them and were able to be overclocked a lot. Maybe the supply of R480 chips is running low and now they're scrounging for any chip that can run at 400/490 with 12 pipelines, because thats all they really advertise the GTO2 is supposed to have, anything else is just gravy. But either way, I'm glad I ordered mine when I did, I was going to hold off a couple of weeks, then I'd be stuck getting one of the blue or green ones.

I bought A red GTO2 with powerconnector...as far as good. It came already with 16pipelines without flashing the bios.
Anyway I am very disappointed, because when I try to find the max. core and memory it just goes until 500/550.
Would the overclocking abilities better if I flash a new bios like described in wizzards guide?
