Xeon E5-2670 2,6GHz Vs Xeon E5-2683 V3 2.0 ( For Crunching )

Hi everyone.

Which configuration would be better for Crunching a single E5 2683 v3 2.0GHz 14 cores or dual E5 2670 2.60GHz 16 cores?

Each single 2670 uses 115W and one 2683 use 120W, a 2683 cost 235€ and come from China and for the dual 2670 I have already one, another one would cost me 105€ and I can get it here I'm Germany.

I'd go with the dual 2670, it's the cheaper option, also you already own one.

It probably will, even more so because you will use 2 of them, but you did not question that in the first post

If you are looking to save the most on you electricity bill then use a single processsor setup.

Edit: Electricity should be cheap in Germany (compared to gas) . In my country (The Netherlands) at least.

Dual 2670's for best bargain. If you seek the most energy efficient solution then go with the 2683 v3.

for using the 2683v3 you got to change to mobo and RAM too,
both uses different sockets and RAM

but i would go with a dual 2670 as its cheaper,
a 2683v3 is maybe faster clock for clock, but less cores

Allow me to correct you, the 2683v3 is 2.0GHz and the 2670 is 2.60GHz.
