Hello,

I have been having issues with my XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB DDR5 Video card since I first got it, and now I am at my wits end. To start, I have the flickering issue with the card, so I have to underclock it for it to work properly. I have contacted XFX with not much help.

I went on to their website and download the Windows Bios update for the card, however I get a runtime error wehn I try to run it. When I downloaded the ISO, burned it and tried that, I also got some sort of error (that I cannot remember) .. both options didn't work.

Over time, my computer has been blue screening more and more (I can provide a detailed blue screen error if need be) but mostly it does it when watching video, using flash or sometimes when playing games. I am wondering if anyone knows of any issues or ways that I can flash my Bios to the proper update so that I can at least get this flickering issue solved... and hopefully solve some of these blue screens as well.

I am a bit of a beginner at modifying the BIOS, etc. so that's just a warning :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Duffman,

Thanks for the advice.

I am using a Lexar 4GB USB Stick and I followed the instructions exactly in that thread to make a bootable USB stick, however my computer doesn't seem to want to boot from the stick. I tried a couple times and it said to select a boot device and restart... I've looked around the BIOS and didn't see anything that would help, but I could be wrong.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can boot from the USB Drive?

Do you need any specs from me?

The motherboard I have is a ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe with I believe the latest BIOS.
