I helped my friend build his first pc and while everything seems to be working fine, some games like Destiny 2 would stutter to hell and back. so I had him install msi afterburner and this was the first thing we saw.

I could be wrong one way or the other but this doesn't seem right

nevermind seems it's normal. just never seen anything that low with Nvidia

Is that image while the game is loaded?
At idle it should be at a low clock speed. You should try playing the game for an extended period and track what is happening with frequency, voltage, temps, etc.

Yep. Even though Destiny 2 runs on a potato now by today's standards. If you crank up the resolution it can drop in frame rate.

Also since it is a online service you will lag around sometimes. Mostly in pvp and during strikes level as the next section loads. I'm using a 2080 Ti at 1440p. It goes anywhere from 150 fps down to 80. That game is made for consoles and has never been optimized for PC.

There's a "fix" for this, because i went through the same going team Red, and so far it happened on Destiny only.
All you gotta do is to go cvars.xml in appdata folders and set low latency something to "0". That will eradicate basically all stutter, but it will still build cache as you play, so as long as you do, stutter will be less and less recurrent.

not trying to sound rude but I updated this about 5 minutes after I made the post but I don't know how or if I can delete it. though yeah the whole Destiny thing is weird still and is most likely just driver things that'll work themselves out over time. this is day one of that gpu's life.

Honestly at this point in the games life and the video card being out for over a year now, it shouldn't be a driver thing.

I would remove afterburner it's pointless and if you have overclocked it and ticked the wrong box it could be auto applying a bad overclock on startup.

All you need to OC is in the drivers anyway.

MSI has nothing of use here, plus afterburner has been maligned on many sites with a viral inclusion so I hope you went directly to MSI for it.

dont know if this is what you want but I remember him sending this screenshot before he went full nuclear mode uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them.

though yeah everything's worked out hopefully that he can just use this computer without anymore problems, but somehow I feel that's not going to be the case.

This plague is tiresome.
A bit of topic, but some games are simply broken forever, example, Strider on pc is simply garbage since it has always been a crashfest, regardless of which version of windows you use.

Best part? It doesn’t crash at all when using Linux with Proton. So you could say its windows, but still, the issue has been ignored by the devs/publishers since the game was released.

Triggered by something in Windows, shouldn't necessary mean it is Windows, right?

Logic dictates that should be the reasonable conclusion, but also the game was made for windows not Linux.
But it also crash on every single version of windows (7, 8, 10 and 11) so yes, seems that windows is the issue but then again, why is this bad (in this particular game case)?

I was watching a video on Youtube about a compromise being loaded into MSI Afterburner. It was hidden in the MSI Center software and shows what the OP posted in the original post when the compromise is installed. I would watch that if you use Afterburner and have uipdated recently. Apparently only 20 of the 60 best Montioring Apps found it. Including Norton and Bit Defender not finding it. Again please watch the video. Do a search MSI Center hack. It apparently also does crypto mining on your CPU (After it has been idle for 30 mins or 1 hour).

I'll go make sure next time I have the chance, but I doubt this is what's happing as it seems this all happened about a year ago.
