Im thinking of building a new gaming rig soon, but i don't know if the components will be good or not.

Specs :
Antec 1200 Twelve Hundred Full Tower Case - No PSU
Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz XMS3 Dominator Memory CL8(8-8-8--24)
Asus P6T DELUXE X58
Coolermaster V8 CPU Cooler
Intel Core i7 920 2.66Ghz

Now, the BIG question, dunno what to do. Should i go for a GTX295 or 2xGTX285's ?
I don't like wasting electricity.I was looking at a TX750 from Corsair, they look like they can do the job.

thanks

If you can afoord it, its a good build. As for video card i would think the two 285's are more powerful. but hy not get two GTX 295's then if you gots that kind of cash, would be the fastest thing around and you will have Quad SLI.

Hm you dont like wasting electricity and you are thinking of buying this setup?

A bit weird dont you think?

To be honest with you:

What do you want to do with this setup?
Which size of monitor do you have?

When it comes to gaming the following will give you around the same fps:

Phenom II
4gb Ram
790fx Board
Graphics depens on lcd size
500w power supply
500gb Seagate Hdd

Get the point?

it will be a 22" with an additional 17" (the one i have now), but ill probably buy a 850W from coolermaster, they're efficient and not overpriced..

750tx is good... but srsly, why don't you go pII?

22 inch? Then get a freaky 4870 or a Gtx260. Then everything will be fine.

Anything else is just overpriced.

I agree a 4870 or GTX 260/280 will be good enough, GTX 295 and SLI is mainly for people gaming at really high res with most features turned up.

i second the others tellign you to get a phenom 2. the thing is awsome and as far as gaming, i get roughly the same performance out of my amd p2 rig then most people i know get out of their i7's. and i paid a fraction of the price. i would got amd get a 4870 or 2 and call it a day.

Listen To Above!

we'll wait and see, thanks for all your replies

I'm 1/3 the way to a Dragon platform! Hazzah!

I agree with the pII and 4870/gtx280 if you want. No need to go sli or quad sli at that resolution unless your like me and just really really really want two graphics cards

core i7 doesnt stand out at gaming, so get the pII and a 48701gb, the gigabyte 790x-ud4, overclock like hell and then when your rig isnt powerful enough to game, get another 4870 and crossfire ;)

If your thinking of saving electricity consider the TX750 or even the HX620 because i have 3gb 1600mhz, i7 920, 8800gts system and when playing on cod4 it only uses 202w or so.
PLus, use the corsair PSU calculator, i doubt itll tell you to get a 1000w. Power Calculator

let the man save himself the trouble and buy into i7... it's not THAT expensive. People do other things with their computer than game, and an i7 is not a weak gamer by any means. Why not have it all? My vote is for the GTX285. They're monsters. By far the nicest solution I've owned out of:

4870
4870x2
4870 crossfire 4870
GTX260 192
GTX280
GTX280 SLI

has been the single GTX280. Not because of frames persay but because of how smooth and natural the system feels. The 285 would be the same thing with higher clocks, less heat, and less power consumption. Total win.

P.S. I have run all of those forementioned on a 750TX, read the specs.
