The Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on May 10th, 2022. It is available in capacities ranging from 240 GB to 2 TB. This page reports specifications for the 256 GB variant. With the rest of the system, the Teamgroup T-Force Vulcan Z interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2259XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Teamgroup has installed 128-layer TLC NAND flash on the T-Force Vulcan Z, the flash chips are made by SK Hynix. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are handled more quickly. The T-Force Vulcan Z is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 520 MB/s and 450 MB/s write.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 19 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Teamgroup guarantees an endurance rating of 200 TBW, a good value.
