The Teamgroup Vulcan G is a solid-state drive in the 2.5" form factor, launched on August 11th, 2020. It is available in capacities ranging from 512 GB to 2 TB. This page reports specifications for the 2 TB variant. With the rest of the system, the Teamgroup Vulcan G interfaces using a SATA 6 Gbps connection. The SSD controller is the SM2258XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Teamgroup has installed 64-layer TLC NAND flash on the Vulcan G, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are processed more quickly. The Vulcan G is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 550 MB/s and 560 MB/s write; random IOPS reach up to 70K for reads and 60K for writes.
The SSD's price at launch is unknown. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Teamgroup guarantees an endurance rating of 1600 TBW, a good value.
