Oh and one other thing, won't need the aftermarket heatsink either. I have clocked an Athlon II x4 and they run cool as a cucumber.

On a budget

My system right now is a budget system, and it plays about everything at that level.


What you do is buy the cheapest AMD quad, Cheapest motherboard, Cheap but lots of ram, then buy a bad-ass video card.

I think my system would cost 400 dollars with the HDD(but I already had one so 300).

and reply to JR cool cool i'm overclocking my rig atm on stock everything so far tems HAVE NOT CHANGED!!! 3.0 stock to 3.2 and i'm still at 60 degrees i'm on my 5th run atm so cool AMD is the way to go!!!

difference is certain cpus unlock to 4 cores and full L3 cache examples the x2 555 is around x4 athlon II price territory and if unlocks clock for clock its faster but overall an x3 rana with 4gigs ram will push most gpus fairly well in single gpu configs

No complaints at all ....

Phanbuey has it currently i pushed it to 3.6Ghz @ 1.4v on a 790fx ud5p, same board as crazyi's has. He has it at 3.5Ghz 1.36v

nice :) so far my 940 is on 3.4 no volt increase and during COD4 its 55 and on linx its at 64 max... trying 3.5Ghz no bump in voltage :)

Yep, that's the chip I'm running, and I have been very happy with it. Very good for the money.

To tell the truth, it's one of the only chips I have ever owned that I didn't OC it. It crunches 24/7, and does everything I ask of it.

I should oc it, but I just haven't.

ahhh dont sweat it... ive had a black edition for months and haven't oc'd (dumb i no lol) i'm having a blast with this 940 tho its a monster @ stock volts holy hell... might actually try to decrese volts by 1 bump and keep checking stability... but with that then my clock speed my decrease... i'ma make a thread on its OC...

Wow thanks guy's I only got to read to theonedub post before my last posst and went to sleep and next morning we went shopping and we already got the parts and finished building it, my friend is amazed how a single GTX 460 outpaces his sli'd 8800gtx:nutkick:, and he got really lucky and was able to unlock his x3 440 to a full x4 945:rockout:
