Hi,
Jan 31st is my birthday and I am thinking of treating me right by upgrading the video card. (Nothing else it worth upgrading tbh!)
However I dunno whether this is the right time to get one, because the new cards were just released and the prices might drop in a couple of months.
I currently have a HD5770, a 550W PSU with 22A each on +12V (which says it can deliver 485W from +12V) and the other specs listed in the System Specs.
these are my options. not saying a specific brand, but these seem to be the reference design and the cheapest i can find online. (i live in japan)
玄人志向 HD5850 JPY11600 ($138): this is a local Japanese brand, the same brand as my 5770. and this is overclocked as well. 760/4200
Sapphire HD5870 JPY16980 ($202)
Sapphire or Gigabyte HD6870 JPY18800 ($223)
Gigabyte GTX480 JPY22400 ($266)
HIS HD6950 JPY27800 ($331)
Sapphire HD6970 JPY33900 ($403)
玄人志向 GTX560 JPY26800 ($319): this is a local Japanese brand, the same brand as my 5770
Palit GTX570 JPY33430 ($398)
what would u suggest i buy? it seems the PSU can handle all of them in a single GPU setup. maybe i can put a couple of HD5850's in there, but doubt it. (mobo supports only CF btw)
and i hate noise! i want something that i can't hear. the 5770 fan, even at the lowest speed, is the loudest fan in my PC.
i am hoping the sell the 5770 later, but not anytime soon.
p.s.
the 5850 seems to be a killer deal, but how long before it gets outdated? i game at 1080p. also, i'd not wanna upgrade the PSU because it is an added cost.
p.p.s
i don't really have a NEED for an upgrade. it is just the upgrade itch, but i dun wanna spend an unnecessary amount of money.
