Fear or not.. (temperature question)

my gtx570 hits 80/82c under load when i play Stalker,crysis 2 or dead space2.
and here is my question , are those temps to be worried or should i take care of it asap.

i play mostly from 2 to 5 hours consecutive everyday, but when i go to lanparties we play almost the whole day for 3 days.

I tried to use Evga precision to put the fan to 65% under load an the card hits over 65/78c but i dont wanna been doing this forever, i just wanna play without temps worries on my card.

can you help me on this guys...

80 is fine, 90+ is worrysome.

You'll be fine, if you want try adding a fan outside the card to cool the other side.

thanx dude, but that doesnt help on my case. I HAVE THE CASE OPEN AND A FAN DIRECTLY PUSHING AIR INSIDE IT.
and by the way, I live in Cuba, here is always summer!!!!

is stock, is working 40/43% in idle and and here is my grudge, when the card hits 80c its working at 55/58% why it doesnt increase more to stop the card from getting hotter.:shadedshu

i just wanna know if i keep playing on 80c can bring some bad side effects to my card.
it cant just go swim to refresh itself from those temps.

No problems at all. GPU's are rated up past 100C, we've all been there and questioned it since Fermi.

Just up the fan to 100% every 2 hours and cool the card down if that makes you feel any better.

no you won't kill it at 80c you might shorten its lifespan abit (talking like -1 year out of a expected 5)
I have pushed gpus to 115c they start dieing at about 108

whoa!! 100c is boliling temps so i dont imagine your cards hitting 115c.
i change my cards every 1 to 2 years for a new one.

I had a 3850 that used to run about 95/110-115(during the summer)
lasted about a year then it started locking up so I smashed it with a hammer

Very long. My HD 4870 reaches 91C load, and I had that load temps for more than a year (in more than 2 years of having the card). The PSU gave way much earlier than the video card.

maybe i should compare that gtx470/480 are out almost a year and those really are hotter tha my gtx570. so at least i have one year assure under pressure.

Lots of high-end cards get temps in that range under load, it's nothing to worry about. It'll be fine.

i was so worried about it cuz i used Ati/amd and high temps are no ussually on the red side. the only one i remember was my hd4870x2.it reached 82/85under load.

No need to worry, most of the high-end fermi cards are just really hot.

So, you can afford in Cuba high-tech gear? Anyway, the fan is locked on your EVGA at max 85% in order to keep the card somewhat quiet. It is no problem to run the card at under 90C under load but of course we want to keep it as cool as possible. Dust is a major heater, clean with air under pressure if it's dusty. You can unlock your fan with an EVGA utility, check their site.

Just set the fan to be at 85% when the card gets to 90c. In afterburner, on the second option tab, unlock the fan control and set the fan curve accordingly. You'll be able to leave the fan on auto, and you won't worry abour it's temp. By the way, the fermi are rated to 105c as the max safe temp. Imagine how hot are the cards that runs into server...

Don't expect your card to run at 60-65, as the card runs around 40-50 degrees over the room temp. So if yours is 30-35, getting 80 means that your card's cooler is doing it's job. My gtx 460 gets to 70 when the room is at 17-18, and it's the msi cyclone one (ok it is oced to hell, but i think you understand what i mean).

I've had a 9800gx2 that downclocked itself when it hitted 104c in the summer. I let her take care of herself, and never got a single crash or lock-up.
