Well I love it and I am getting BF4. I might get Titanfall as well, but I always wait on new IPs to drop before testing the waters. Hype will sell you crap so you have to be careful.

Should you pre-order BF4? No. Wait until it is closer to release because I am expecting a final push by EA to sell more copies so I think a discount will come at that time. I am also waiting on Premium because I got the Digital Deluxe edition and want to get it at a discount for having one of the DLCs already.

If you friends don't like the beta feel free to point out that it is a fraction of the equipment, options, guns, and only 1 of 10 maps. There will be plenty more to do once the actual game is released.

I like it just fine; all Battlefield games are rough around the edges in the beginning and go through growing pains.

Don't buy it if you're expecting a brand new groundbreaking game.. Like I said earlier it's a polished BF3 with commander mode... BF3 is a great game so I'm sure BF4 will be alot of fun, but when you reach the near perfection of BF3 theirs not much you can do besides a total reboot to change things up. I'm more excited for the new battlefront game as far as shooters go, something new and different.

I like the feel so far. I'm not too fond of the map, but I think this is one of the lower destruction maps, since it has so many large buildings. But even considering my feelings towards this maps, it's a million times better than playing Operation Metro in BF3 Beta. I like that the weapons seem to have some accuracy back like in BC2, kind of happy Suppression is gone. The new vehicles are nice. So overall I'm liking it more than BF3, the map design on other maps will be critical. I miss me some decent destruction, if theres some country maps with small buildings that can be leveled, bet on me living on those maps.

Anyone else here thinks they're going to pull a Caspian Border?
MAA and Scout heli unlocks are on battlelog (though that is about the only hint I got).
There has been some Zavod 311 footage leaked from Eurogamer Expo, so they might unlock that one or Paracel Storm is the only other likely candidate.

Finally got to play a few hours, really like it so far!

Only thing that really worries me long term is the cash shop / battlepack / RNG business. As long as players don't start dropping loot and there's no p2w power creep crap, I'm OK with it...it just bothers me a bit after seeing Guild Wars totally destroyed by the bean counters. I really don't like progression and unlocks in general, but I know some players enjoy that aspect of the game and I'm fine with it as long as it doesn't become MMO grind.

As for map design, I always thought that destruction needed a more reasonable balance than BC2. It was fun in BC2 before players started using C4 and explosive spam in general to turn the whole map into a moonscape that had no cover besides destroyed buildings, at which point the game becomes nothing but nade spam, peek-a-boo dinking and mile-away bush wookies. That's not fun. But in a limited sense, I like it because it makes you think a lot more about positioning and can give offense an edge vs. campers.

New and different (if good) is always great but there is a whole lot more different, improved and added than just commander. The gunplay and mechanics don't feel anything like BF3 to me either (which is good I suppose for a "new game" though it also means I don't do as well at first). And I really don't think you can call BF3 near "perfect" either with lots left out and bugs never fixed. I think I would have been ok with that game being BC3 and this being BF3.

Only thing that really worries me long term is the cash shop / battlepack / RNG business. One thing I don't really care for either, from what we know so far.

Does anyone else feel massively disadvantaged playing with anything besides low graphics? Maybe my eyes are getting bad, but there's just so much random glare and shadows even with medium...while on low, it looks like crap but the screen is clear and it's much easier to see players.

Yep I agree but I initially started out in the OP discussing BF4 playablility and have opened a can of worms, look at my last post, personally I am all for sharing info on spec's and what not to make purchasing decisions, not slingin' mud. Talking about battlefield four beta the discussion was leaning towards the servers that origin offers at present that is causing across the board issues for about a third of the users, just got off team speak and it was a hot button issue for roughly a third from the usa uk and australia to name a few. Their rigs run the gamut as well in other words it wasn't a particular set up it seems to boil down to ''some do and some don't''.

Not meaning to be ugly or smart assed or any thing really, it all started out simply as stuttering and lagging and freezing to date in the game itself and it led to all sorts of answers like...do you know what beta is?...birds of a feather...get a Dell....quit bitching...everything except real input...kinda reminds me of Congress these days.

Problem is you come to a Battlefield thread full of Battlefield fans and piss all over a beta version of the game because you cannot get it to run correctly. As usual its ALWAYS the games fault..........when most of the time its people who know just enough to ruin an OS.

SO I will be HAPPY to help a new member to the forum. You can ask anyone around here I help where and when I can. BUT its all how you approach the community. SO with that being said lets hit the reset.

Welcome aboard TPU. What is your computer doing that's making BF4 run bad?
We need systems specs.
Is it OC?
Do you have an anti-virus installed?
Are your drivers up to date?
Do you have all your drivers installed?
Do you run bootleg software?
When was the last time you installed windows?

I played a few rounds today its alright, domination is fun.The issues are punkbuster related from what I've seen.PB needs to die off once and for all.

Game is like running a benchmark, maxes 6 cores on my end.

Sounds like it must be a beta  Shit I remember BF3 doing that for awhile even after the release. It wouldn't crash, but just go to battle log and I'd have to rejoin. I guess that is crashing though isn't it ?Then you lose anything you had in the round. Fucking suckage. Like my son said though none of this carries over any how. He isn't playing the beta much because of that. He just checked to see if his system plays it and not much else. He's playing at medium settings with an Athlon II x4 and GTX 460se and 4 gigs of ddr2. Surprised me it could played at medium. Pretty much mean us geeks will get ultra out of it or High/Ultra mix. Yeah I know most will get Ultra I'm not to worried if I'm getting a High/Ultra mix. I'm curious what GeForce Experience will optimize it at.

Just went like 24 and 6 or something with 3 melees; field upgrades are sweet. And I am pretty damn sure the last knife I countered the dudes attempt at countering and I swear I like punched him in the face to do so before plunging it in and taking his tags. At any rate it was awesome!

Edit: And some dude went down in the water with a chopper so I jumped in to get him with my sidearm but then couldn't find him. Though I did see the chopper underwater slowly sinking to the bottom. It's the little things...

It will be interesting to see what the other maps look like. Shanghai is a million times better than the BF3 beta map (why I never even bothered with the game), but I really hate maps that are bogged down to a single choke for the heavies.

For whatever reason I've also been having a hard time finding players with the heavy ammo drops for rocket resupplies...so it's like, 4-5 RPGs to kill a tank unless you get the seemingly random disable bonus, then as an engi without the carbine unlock, you are essentially out there with a pop gun and no anti-vehicle capacity. Carbine, 4x scope, AT mines, AT4, please! Yeah, yeah beta...

I ran the game for 1 round this morning. Really enjoyed it. my i7 920 was sitting at 50% load.

Fuck it if it bogs it down, tone it down. I'm not running super duper, but I'm having fun
while I'm getting my ass handed to me. Just like all the BF games. It is Epic Battlefield.
Like the USA flag love it or leave it

Found a fix for solving freeze crashes after under one hour of total BF4 gameplay.

If you have onboard audio enabled on your PC, disable it and a buy a USB, PCI, or PCI-E audio source. Switching to my DAC via USB instead of fiber worked for me.
