I asked that question... no acknowledgement. I think its best moving forward that the guy sells these three cards and grabs a 980 and calls it a day. No need for such complication and headaches for no reason.

Just wondering.... but why 3 Video cards.... when 1 video card can run all these games just fine? (GTX 970 or 980 or just 1 R9) Seems overly complicated to me.
believe it or not, thats what i wanted, but my cousin offered me a great deal, so i grabbed. the point of that was to build a mining rig. as i was tired of that, i just used them as a gaming gpus. thats all. now i am looking forwards 980 and never looking back to amd`s again..

Its not an AMD issue, but the choice to sell these 3 cards and going with one for you is a good idea.
sell how? do you offer me to sell defective ones to some poor gamer? :D

so, really, noone who RMA`d their gpu to swap tp another one? really??
i guess, will keep you updated (if anyones interested) how it will figure out. firstly, i am really hoping to get some updates from the store.

Has nothing to do with AMD dude, I am using AMD (3 cards), @eidairaman1 is, and probably a good chunk of the people on this forum (up to half) use AMD cards without issue. If all three were bad you just got a very unlucky batch that most likely had faulty ram (Which has nothing to do with AMD) or ram that could not handle the clocks it had which happens from time to time as they can sneak past testing in some situations.

I have had cards come faulty before as well, I have an old x300 from Ati come bad and even a GTX 295 was bad when I bought them years ago. Does not mean its the companies fault and more likely its the vendor than the company but things happen in the computer world and its just something we all have to deal with.

If this was really an AMD issue and was rampant, I can safely say that I nor anyone else would be using their cards anymore period because that would be unplayable.

just curious, how come all cards could be faulty. i have to mention, these cards were being sold at the moment, when this card came out. so maybe, i just grab some BETAS or ALPHAS, which were not properly tested till graduation.

I would guesstimate that there are a good bit more than half that visit this forum using AMD GPUs. There is almost always a good bit more people viewing the AMD forum versus the Nvidia forum. Not scientific but imo a good enough indication.

Deal or not, I still would have gone with 1 video card to avoid being overly-complicated, and spent the extra money somewhere else more efficient/useful on the rig imo.

But its your rig, and your call obviously, I am just sharing my opinion.

I have personally never dealt with SLI/Xfire and don't plan on it at the moment.

And having 3 Cards be faulty is crazy... I guess shit does happen though.

I try not to assume any majority ever because it ends in arguments :p

Well things happen, I have seen coolers that have been faulty in design on cards in which the VRM have run hotter than they should which causes throttling before. However most people have raved how great the Sapphire TRI-X is which is why its odd to see this issue.

Depending on the situation and your situation, if they offer a refund you can go for it and grab whatever card you want or decide to get which I would guess based on how much money you have you can either get a pair of GTX 970's or R9 290X cards which would last you for some serious amount of time. They may also want to allow you to swap for another trio of R9 280X cards which I would say just get a different cooler/company like PowerColor or the likes and try those. The last maybe an RMA of all three and you will receive some revised cards that should not have the issue (If the issue comes back there is something seriously wrong here...) and you can then decide what you want to do with them.

You RMA the cards... sell the working ones.

The problem isn't with RMAing... we all have probably done that. The problem is, as I said above, we did not buy from your random corner of the internet. So you need to decipher that german stuff and figure it out.. email them maybe...

ya, uninstalling the drivers manually dont even help. you gotta use that software cause that's the only way I got it to work. Btw i'm running an r9 280x on a 40" hdtv, and play bioshock and everything at 1920x1080p resolution all the time and have zero problems.

That looks like memory artifacts. Have you tried underclocking anything on the video cards? I'd say lower your memory speed considerably and try again.

Just what i was thinking, however was some time ago were if the memory clocks were changed it would course a flicker. So maybe these cards are not checked correctly and maybe he should just get on to Sapphire about the issue.

For a shop to give a exchange after so long for 3 cards that should of been taken back many months ago if the problem was there back then. Maybe try older drivers to see if that helps as i read it has helped others in the passed. But as the card is supposed to be supported still in current CCC packages i think he should get a refund but then so long you had these cards and sorry i know what i would tell you. O well deal with it should done some thing back then.

Maybe Sapphire have bios updates for the cards ?, maybe even they are not all up to date.,

Youd have to contact sapphire on that, They dont give bios updates out on their page.

This might help you have to find the info on how to obtain a new vbios

This.

I don't understand why you kept them for so long though. Artifacts out of the box when on stock clocks (especially if you've tried different drivers and stuff) = DOA in my book.

It sucks that he already shipped the cards away....

Like I said before, I would not jump to conclusions so fast.

But it doesn't help that all these good ideas are being posted on how to possibly solve this and he doesn't even have the cards anymore

i have tried, but still... this is just an example video. mine artifacts are not that brutal, just a small box shaped canvas in which points are moving.
<- exactly like this. pay attention to that small box above.
- its just not the way it has to be. i have paid for card which has to run on speeds advertised on box. right? anyways, i dont own these cards anymore, as i said, they are somewhere in Germany, already. ready to be investigated.

This to me says he shipped them back.

Holy crap... really.. what is the point of this thread if they are already sent off? I mean, its up to the OP to figure out what that store is willing to do...

What a waste of time, LOL!

Heres the deal he didn't use google to find a solution.

I put in 280x flickering solution and several popped up. Its his loss in time and money.

Yeah, theres is alot of possible fixes just googling like you said.

Its a shame conclusions were jumped to so quickly by the OP.

Then again it was saying on toms-hardware the R9-280x has the highest rate of doing this.

"And it seems the R9 280X has the highest failure rate because the R9 280X GPU is actually the same as the older HD 7970. Except that now the chips at 'reference' are essentially overclocked 7970s, so when manufacturers overclock beyond reference they are pushed to extremes and easily become unstable which is what you are seeing now."
