The stock PSU that came with my case went suicidal and took my video card with it. I guess it was obvious that it wasnt up for the oc'ing and graphic card consumption. so now, I need some quick info to know what to look for in a power supply. I hear it has a lot to do with 12V rails for modern day computers.

so... here's the "upgraded PSU that I bought: COOLMAX CX-400B ATX v2.01 400W
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817159023

is that good enuff for... my future core 2 duo setup with a 8800gts?

If not, I was thinking about buying this: Antec Truepower 2.0 550 Watts
cuz I saw it in the F/S thread.

I wouldnt recommend using that 400W PSU. That Antec 550W should be fine though.

From my research a safe bet will be a 550W PSU with a +12v26a rail although the recommended PSU is 400W.
Make sure it's of a reputable brand:-Enermax, Silverstone, Antec tpo name a few.
Just search:- 8800GTS recommended PSU.

Although the reason for the 26a on the +12V rail is just incase you have a fully loaded system.

I was running my X1950pro on a 450W +12V15a rail just asking for trouble but then again the vendor did not ask what system I had.

But to be safe I have upgraded to a Enermax Noisetaker 600W 2x +12V18a rail although the recommended PSU is a little bit more than that but then again I don't have a fully loaded system.

You won't be running a C2D with an 8800GTS on any 400W power supply. For a set-up like that, I reccomend a 600W with 30A on the 12V rail, or if it's dual rail, 20A and 20A
