Thanks for the information. I am happy with 1050 core 1200 mem. The only issue I am having is when playing Crysis warhead(Maxed), getting a few white flashing artifacts. worked on my case cooling last night and will try crysis again. Whats interesting is Hawks(Maxed) runs fine at 1050 core.

Crysis is a league on their own. Hawks doesn't compare.

try different driver's maybe? i have had this issue on other card's before and a fresh driver install cured the issue

i think ATi has some issue with HDR/shading or something similar

My toxic is running strong. Spent some time running games and stress testing.

The best stable clocks I could achieve at a 60% fan was 1025 core 1175 DDR5 memory. Darn good.

Most games would run 1050 core, but crysis and Farcry2 (maxed - DX10) would bring on stress after 5-10 minutes.

Just artifacts when running intense graphics at 1050 core. Goes away at 1025 core.
Getting yours soon, less than 48 hours!!! Have you tracked it today?

Edit: I'm moving memory speed down to 1150. dont want to much stress as a 25mhz drop effect fps very little. (less than .20 frames)

FINALLY HERE :D - SOOOOOOOOOOOO pretty too haha!

Spent lik 30 minitues trying to figure out WHY the hell it wasn't filling my HDTV screen, DAM YOU OVERSCAN lol - but after that was settled I was extremely happy!

Just installed now, did some test as I also got some new Ram today to OC my E8400 - however I'm unfortunately running XP (HATE Vista) so only have 3dMark06 to play with. OCs are shown in the pictures below:

Stock (960/1050):

OC1 (1000/1050):

OC2 (1025/1100):

Quite pleased from my old 8800GTX :D:

Now I'm thinking is it SAFE (24/7, no damage to card etc) to run it as the settings in OC2? What temperatures/figures should I be monitoring in GPU-Z?

Are they're any other great tools I can use to monitor/test for stability etc? Anything else I should do?

Thanks
VD

Glad you received your Toxic. Posting some good numbers! Running mine at 1025 also.
will run some games at 1050 but get tearing and minor artifacts with crysis and
farcry2. Enjoy Mate...

Edit: GPUz is great for monitoring. I look at core temps mainly.
What speed is your GPU fan set at? At 1025 I have to set mine to 60% during game play.

No sense to even overclock at 1050 for artifacting at games for another 2 or 3 FPS..

I don't even feel like touching mine anymore because I haven't had anything that it can't handle at full settings at 1920x1200.

I'm running 1025/1150 and 60% fan right now. May drop later. would like by fan at 50%Giving the new card a good run in.

I'm running mine at stock and 38% fan speed. Anything more is too loud for me.

I'm just concerned about VRAM heat or w/e was mentioned earlier - where is that in GPU-Z?

Sensors tab. Congratz on getting the card, i guess your happy now! I have found at 1050mhz the card is ever so slightly slower than my overclocked 275, but at 1100mhz, ever so slightly faster but not much in it either way, high detailed graphics at my 19xx resolution does seem just a little smoother though with the 4890.

Thanks for that - must be named something different on the Tab, and me not being as veteran as you guys in the OC department prob can point it out straight away haha.

When viewing GPU-Z - is there ANY reason why my GPU Core Clock should be JUMPING between 1000Mhz and 240Mhz o_O....

EDIT: Ignore me - 2D mode hehe, I like learning new things :)

What are ACCEPTABLE, or more importantly dangerous VRAM/GPU Temps to watch out for?

GPU safe temps vary between differing GPU's, for the 4890, they will almost go upto 100C however SAFE IMO is to keep it below 90C which shouldnt be a problem with these coolers, I see your Fan speed is at 58%, just leave the fan on auto, that way it stays in-audible and does a good job, even on auto I have never gone out of the 60's C and the fan has never gone above 60% I think.

As for memory temps not sure, I wouldnt worry too much though, these cards have pretty effective memory/VRM cooling.

tatty, are you running any games at 1100 core. I believe you are using riva tuner to bump up vcore arent you?

I wished Sapphire had a Vcore tweak like the Asus Smart Doctor. Worked great on my Asus 4890 Tweak.

edit:I would be willing to do a hard mod to get my Vcore up if I had the directions!
Did we determine that the toxic vcore is set at 1.4V? What would get me to 1100mhz core?

Somewhere between 1.425 and 1.45, strange thing is I can play COD WaW at 1100mhz (pretty pointless really as stock plays it with about 50 FPS to spare, just testing) but I need 1.45V to get thru 3D mark 2006.

The mod is easy in rivatuner and you can switch on and off or even setup a hotkey profile, i posted the guide on the previous page. I have mine off ATM, only use it to bench, 1040 (max stable in everything on stock 1.4V) is overkill anyways, i just like the cooler and the quiteness.

Rivatuner voltage tweaker is better, safer and more easily reversible than a bios mod truly.
