i7 haswell temps

Hi just put an i7 into my system how are these temps on idle, I don't want to overclock yet.

IDLE? Not much I can say about those temps at idle. Load them, no need for burn, just go for your everyday use (gaming, etc) and load it that way.

Then post the load temps.

Current 33c, minimum 32C max 42C?
pretty fine temps..nothing to worry about..

I only see one problem and that is the small box your put into together with two hot GPUs.

Idle temps mean little. Load temps are critical. Being its a Haswell running below 100C you're fine...and you'd be fine running up there too. They thermal throttle quite nicely without totally killing CPU performance.

What do you get while gaming? Running CPU stress test like OCCT? You could also stress using an AVX test and that will almost certainly load your CPU close to the thermal throttle mark.

If your gaming temps are the screenshot posted in the OP you're in gr8 shape! Even if you load into the 80s you're just fine.

That is not load temperatures. Look at the numbers - 43 C GPU for a 290. That can't be done even under water. If he plans to use those two 288 W beasts (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/R9_290_Vapor-X/23.html ) he better have a some 3000 rpm fans to keep the temperature down below 50 C inside the case. OC of the CPU will bring it to the 80 C even at stock if he run the GPUs flat out.

let it run for about 30 min ... play some games for a while, then check and compare temps fella... could be better...
like this for example:

My computer has been running for a while... also this is my Work beast....
using stock cooler with old ocz paste... tomorrow i will repaste it!

Why

If this 45 nm chip had run at 98 C since birth we all have no need to think about better coolers ect. I like (no hard facts to back it up) to run my "things" below 70 C but I did have some laptop CPUs running at +80 C for 1000 hour non-stop.

i have to take care of it.... this 1st gen i7 has been abused for many time, so a decent cooler, more airflow and repaste may be like a payment for the work this beast has done!

my personal PC its under total care, watercooled and excellent airflow, BTW

Damn, and I was thinking of buying an aftermarket cooler for my 4590 because I saw it getting to 67ºC once. Guess I'm still thinking of my previous FX Tjmax temps.

I'm still gonna buy an aftermarket for noise tho since I can't/don't want to OC

Honestly I like to keep mine under 80c, but that is even a bit antiquated. Haswell is a weird chip with it's wonky TIM and IHS. You could always lap and delid and you might see a 20c drop if it came from the factory bad, or only a 5c drop if it came from the factory well pasted. The TIM between the die and IHS can be the worst insulator though, so the chips temps might be more limited by the chip than the cooler.

Looks like what I would expect for a heavy gaming load, and BF4 does a good job of stressing CPU, RAM, HDD and GPU.

You could try openhardwaremonitor, too.

The Wargame RTS series does a pretty decent job honestly...zoom into the trees or into a hectic firestorm...that game actually fleshed out more CPU OC errors than BF4 did during my testing with my first 4770k.

But really BF4 is about the best out there for a sure-fire heavy-stress test via gaming. If you can pass BF4 and not thermal throttle, odds are most other games will do just fine. Maybe Crysis 3 maxed out would be the next one to try?

If its not overheating and you can game, then game on good friend!

As you said just wanted to check my temps, tied to midi case because of space and tower is beside cupboard with water heater in so I don't think I can improve temps in any way.
