So, how is this game supposed to run on a gtx970? Better than BF4? I want max settings or I don't bother with a game.
Catching up on a lot of 2+ year old games right now...... Should I just wait for pascal for this one?

From the interwebs seems like I am not the only one to get stuck at computer terminals... Because, well, my game is running too fast, it seems.
Had to turn off vsync and run in borderless windows mode - definitely runs slower that way.

It'll run fine on a 970. The game doesn't look that great anyways. Waiting for mods to take care of it first before I consider buying it.

You could also just look at all the damn benchmarks that have been posted all over the internet in the last week.

Turning AA down to the medium setting was all i needed for smooth gameplay. occasional bugs (weapon/pip boy going invisible) easily resolved with a quicksave and quickload.

combat is so fluid now.

At what resolution is everybody playing?
Now I'm thinking my crashing could be because I insisted on running the game at 2560x1440 and perhaps that would be too much for my 670 4GB?
As soon as I get home I'll try a lower resolution.

1080p, as ultra wide is not working. That, and I had to force it in the .ini file as it wouldn't pick it up either when put in fullscreen.

They didn't really invest a lot of thought into the beginning of this game, did they? Tropes, Hero of a Thousand Faces, and standard Fallout sequence.

At least the combat looks to have been improved. With less bugs, what seems to be a concerted support effort from Bethesda, and a game engine that has supposedly been refined I'm looking forward to eventually getting the game. Hopefully by then we'll have something bizarre and fun, like Mothership Zeta or Dead Money.

Well Freesync is useless so far it locks the game to 20FPS turning it off gets me 48 no matter the setting. Need a new driver from AMD STAT! I mean yeah it's playable at 48 but something is definitely off somewhere...(Oh on the 15.11's the ones that make CoD have great frames but lurches and stutters anyways...)

Edit: GodRays to High and Shadows to High, rest Ultra. BOOM! 72FPS.. Gameworks.. :shadedshu:

Yeah, the beginning left me quite disappointed. I mean, it is a standard rails intro to tell you a story so I was not expecting any liberty at this point, but I felt as though I was almost dragged through a stale presentation:

"Here is your face, over here is your girl, over there is your child, notice that you have a robot. This is your half-furnished house, notice the closet: it is almost empty except for a plastic looking iron and a D20 shaped ball. Oh look, something is happening on the news! Whatever could be happening to spoil this idyllic setting? Quickly! to the vault!"

I had to put down the game before heading out the vault to go to work. :banghead:

I'm really hoping it picks up a bit when I get my hands on it again tonight!

Well, I got it working but only at 1600x900. Now if I could figure out how to save the game... Running it in administrator mode isn't working, game progress still doesn't save..

Anyway.. running OK here, a few visual glitches (blocky shadows etc). CPU (Vishera) is up to the task but since my 7950 died, it's backup 6970 is struggling a bit, been pegged at 99% from the start..... 35-55fps on high 1080p.
, keyboard mapping way worse, and seems a lot of mods from FNV have been incorprated in to FO4 vanilla....

Are there any factions? I don't see Karma in the PipBoy menu.....

I know there is a sentence with a point in there, but I'm failing to see it.

Do you want to say that Bethesda has already released a patch day 1, thus demonstrating that they've again released a game with bugs worthy enough to warrant patching? Do you want to tell me that my expectations of a fundamentally whole game from the word go haven't been met (ie, what I said was going to happen)? Perhaps what you mean is to highlight that Bethesda releases patches quickly? I never contested that, given the enormous string of patches that we experienced with Skyrim (yes, I bought that game hard copy on day 1).

I know you're trying to make a point, and I'm guessing it was snarky, but I can't determine what exactly it was.

My understanding is that there are no factions similar to New Vegas. At the same time, you have relationships with characters, which your actions hinge upon. My understanding of the various review and let's plays is that companions have a "respect" level for you, which allows you to unlock missions for them.

Is it true what I've been reading that there are no interior shadows on any static object in the game? I remember Skyrim having issues with striped shadows in some interior scenes, but this "workaround" is a bit radical.

Haven't had that issue at all personally. I would recommend trying beta drivers if there are any for AMD, then running the game on potato settings and moving them up once you get it working.

There are factions, but the karma section of the pip-boy is gone, sadly. However, when you complete quests on behalf of some NPCs they reward you by opening up their settlement for you to control and modify. I notice that when you perform certain actions and responding in dialogue specific ways makes you companions like or dislike you. Preston, for example, gave me positive feedback when I started crafting weapons and armor, while, Codsworth seemed to dislike me bartering for more of a reward from an NPC.

Perhaps a smart guy like you has seen everything under the sun already and nothing could possibly surprise you. I mean all of the other Fallouts have been so original before this one. Not like the first two boil down to your community slowly dying and you're the only one that can save them? Then in 3 you have to track down your long lost/deadbeat dad, that's never been done before right? Oh then in New Vegas you have to avenge yourself from the guy that almost murdered you, that's definitely never ever been done before!

The Elder Scrolls series is even worse. I mean with the player always being a prisoner. Unoriginal Bethesda bastards! Somebody should tell them how much they suck.

FO4 is running very smoothly for me on max everything. That was even before the driver update. The only time I have had the framerate dip for me is when I'm looking down a scope. FPS goes from 60 to 30-45. Only outdoors from what I've seen thus far.

I watched some more videos and don't understand why the beginning looks so 1950, when it's taking place in 2077? Sure people won't be living in Matrix 50 years from now, but seriously, the clothing, music and other stuff just doesn't make any sense at all in the game. It did in Fallout 1, but here?
