I understand in the financial forums where they lock posts after 15 minutes so posters can't go revisionist. But I don't know of any other PC forum where posts are locked, except [H] and their front page threads where posts are immediately locked -- I believe due to high visibility and strict moderation of those front-page threads.

I mean does it even happen often enough to warrant the change? Unless fixing the issue when it happens and restoring flow is just that difficult.

I'm seeing a delay (erratic) in posting vs Recently Discussed. Not long, just a 2-3 minute that I noticed, but don't recall seeing that before. I posted twice within a minute. First post was immediately listed, took over 2 more minutes for the second one to hit the top of the list.

The "recent forum posts" box on the main site uses a cache with a few minutes timeout to reduce server load.

I appreciate the change, W1zz, but I still see it as a problem for many of the posted exceptions (WTS threads, clubhouse threads). And I'm afraid I really don't see what the point is to taking away editing. If you remove the ability to delete, but still leave the ability to edit, the forum script doesn't allow you to completely edit away a post. It has to have something there, which means the thread and quotes couldn't be broken. I really just don't get it....

Yep, doesn't do me any good since the Nostalgic Hardware Club thread started in 2009. :(

So I can't add to the list as new people come into the "club."

While this may work on those who have recent sale threads, but however since I have been using the same sale thread for a while and just edit out the content as its been sold and add new stuff this doesn't work well since my post exceeds the 90 day limit. I do this to save making new post all the time, I am sure other members are doing the same thing. This where you will run into an issue. Unless there is a way to leave the first post or OP to be left open for editing, this will work better.

Is there a way to make it so that you "can't" delete a post without approval or at all, but still make it editable? This would be a more ideal and eliminate most of the issues people are complaining about.

The real solution is what AnandTech does -- allow users to view post change history.

Oddly, today [H] updated to the same software that TPU forum uses (Xenforo).

Edit history would be a good ideal. That way we can see what has been changed if needed or if someone thinks they are getting scammed.
I don't visit Hardforums enough to know what they use. I've never used there Sale side of the forum. I mostly lurk there if I need information I can't find elsewhere.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Just ran across this change... Its like you are trying to explode a glass bottle with a nuclear bomb instead of a firecracker.

The editing time limit has been adjusted to 2 days recently, any feedback on this? Examples of issues?
Yes. You are asking for more effort all around, from your volunteer staff and the members to post in the Classifieds because ONE person obliterated their post AND from the members having to create new threads every 90 days. This is, seemingly, an over reaction. Who cares if one person obliterated their thread? Why 'punish' others for what that one person did? There are plenty of solid workarounds in the thread!

The problem, as others have mentioned is that I(we) have to take our years long FS thread and let it go to start another. I liked having my history in a thread... this is, as was said earlier, a bit Draconian.

I've coded an addon for the forum that lets you edit your posts for 90 days if you are the thread starter, please test and feedback.
Shit... I should catch up....... LOL!

This isn't working for me........................... but that thread is YEARS old.... Can you code it for unlimited in the B/S/T section only? @W1zzard
http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/msi-b150a-mobo.143914/

That would seemingly resolve the issue, no?

Is it possible to put a max amount of posts you can edit / delete per day that are older than two days?

The problem is with threads older than 90 days that cannot be updated...there are many of them, not only in the FS section.

Donde esta el W1zzard???
