after playing games for a little (20 mins) my screen goes black and the fan on my graphics card goes to maximum (at least it sounds maximum) and only way to get it back is to turn the pc off at the wall. does anybody know how to fix this? ive got all the latest drivers and bios installed on my asus p5n-d motherboard. ive included an image of gpuz showing the max temp my card gets to as i dont think its a heat issue even though its on stock cooling inside a coolermaster haf 922 case.

Strange issue! Are you using the latest drivers from AMD? You may want to look into Windows power management settings to make sure nothing is being shut down after 20 minutes.

I got some pics coming...

Welcome to TPU, Tuck :toast:

If you go into the UserCP and enter your system specs you will not have to type them into the thread if you need help in the future.

faulty video card or power settings, set it to default. restart then change it to all power settings off like they said, hell mine would do that and Ive got a 5770, it was power settings that fixed it.
if that doesn't work then start pulling parts and testing them in other computers.

it never gets past 60 under full load but when the screen goes black i have no way of checking but i can still hear games in the background so its as if the card stopped sending out a signal

Sounds like a bad card, or driver error.

You are experiencing a failed driver recovery, but what's causing the crash in the first place is what you should be looking at. Check error logs...

go to control panel, then administrative tools, then event viewer.

Click the plus sign next to "Windows Logs" and select "application".

Scroll through the list and look for "yellow bang" warning, and "red cross" errors.

Also look under "system" instead of "application", for other errors. driver errors will show under "system".

no error before the card did what it did but it clearly shows that i had to turn power off from the wall as the power button and reset did not respond yet my game was clearly still in the background.

there is however a few yellow triangle errors saying
