I don't give a crap about brand in video cards. My short list has gone from Voodoo3, Voodoo5, ATI 9600 Pro, Nvidia 5900, ATI X800 XL, Nvidia 7800 GS, ATI X850 Pro to a box waiting for the PC to be assembled this weekend containing an Nvidia 8800 GTX. I like both companies and their products and I want both to stay healthy, innovative and competative.

As far as CPUs go that's a different story. Intel is so massive compared to AMD and with such deep pockets I fear that there is a very real chance of them facing little or no competition in the future. We don't need a "Microsoft" situation in processor choice and innovation, so I support AMD.

Moderators, it would be nice add the option for Intel GMA.

Intel Graphics aren't that bad but I say they could do better, Not to mention there is not specification for how big the heatsink could be.

the fact is that if intel squished amd(not gonna happen) you would be stuck with onboard intel gfx or nvidia, so stop hating amd they make your gpu after all!!!!

Don't get snippy because my post is an affront to you sig. I contributed to the topic and the poll. If I want to add a little off-topic at the end (and it's barely off-topic), that's my business.

It's impossible on an nVidia, period. You may have both turned on in Oblivion, but the nVidia card is only doing one or the other, not both. It's not a question of software or drivers, either. It is a hardware limitation.

If you have an X1k series ATI card, it can do both.

I just checked, it's actually Bloom, sorry for the confusion.

What does Ashen mean by fp16 games anyway?

bloom is like a lesser version of HDR really, its worse then shader based hdr that ati dx9 cards such as the 9500/9550 up to x850xt pe support, but it run on cards that wont support or beable to coap with HDR or even shader based HDR.

cards like the 6x00 nvidia cards get severly hurt by HDR, but bloom is normaly very playable with them, and because its shader based not fp16 based you can add AA to it.

as stated above nividia cards (6/7 seirse) just CANT do hdr+aa they auto dissable AA when both are slected, this is why you see some nvidia fans INSIST you can do HDR+AA with their cards when its acctualy QUITE impossable :)

Even on my 1800XT I dont have HDR enabled on some games....find it too bright and distracting in outdoor scene's so its not that I am gonna miss it on the NVidia card :D

x1800xl's overclock too, you dont have to voltmod xl's though (unless youre going ott)

im not knocking the thing, its just i dont consider my card to be anywhere near one of most powerful, and i upgraded to this FROM an x850 (oblivion scared me into going for pixel shader 3)

was it worth the upgrade though...er, no not really IMHO

It's a shame this thing is so old. It would own on SM3.0. I'm keeping this thing forever!! I have a 512MB X1300 for SM3.0 if I ever NEED it.

LoL, that extra 256MB on anything lower than X1800XT will hardly do anything. :p

because you didnt read the reviews, the x800/850 xt/xtpe cards are only worth replacing with x1800xt 512mb and better cards, they are still a good card, but the x1900gt and up blow them out of the water in shader based games, because they have 36-48 shader units and newer/more vertex shaders, as well as better memory buss and such.

i still have my x800xt pe, its happly pluging along in my other box!!!!, my buddy comes over and hes got a system to play games on with me ;)

personaly i wouldnt buy anything less then an x1900gt these days, u can find them for 130-160bucks depending on when and how hard you look have seen some that where 130 with a MIR of 20bucks, taking the price down to 110!!!!
