Max Payne 2 is up there on the list of games that haven't been mentioned yet, and it still looks pretty good on PC, and it's on sale on Steam for another 5 hours for $3.74.

ARMA 2.. cod and all those other games can't hold a candle to ARMA2.. want guns? Arma has basically every one u can imagine. Want tanks? feel free to hop into a simulation worthy Abrams or several other types including shilkas and "MANY" other various attack and transport vehicles. Want to fly? Hows a joy ride in an f35 sound? VTOL and all. Don't like planes "of which there are several types" hop into a Ah1-z super cobra or several other attack helicopters and rip all holy hell from everything. The game map is huge and the game it's self is made to be the most moddable imaginable in every sense of the word.. Skins, vehicles, maps, missions, you want it, feel free to make it from scratch and import it... Walking across it will take you so long you won't even consider doing it. It is total war at it's best imo. I haven't seen anything else come even close to topping it.

PS: Dead space 2: is.. sooo great.. your really missing out if you don't get that gem of a game..
Just cause 2: is also lots of fun, if a bit repetitious from time to time but not as good as dead space 2, not even close imo.
Farcry 2: was also really good and huge, looks gorgeous even to this day, I mean really gorgeous.
Mass effect 2: Is a must have just as much as dead space 2..

#1 dead space 2
#2 mass effect 2
If you want a cod type game where battle is your priority and pvp/pve is your focus, not so much storyline/rpg.... ARMA all day..

Back in the day I liked Killswitch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_Switch_(video_game), it inspired the use of cover as an essential part of the game. Several great pc/console games take inspiration from this title :D For a more modern game I would say Mass Effect 2...... if you like a lot of dialogue with a bit of action sprikled in :D
